KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE Sequel In The Works At Fox

The first movie was a surprise hit (raking in $400 million at the global box office) and was very much left open for a sequel, so it's probably not too surprising that a follow up to Matthew Vaughn's deliriously entertaining Kingsman: The Secret Service has been given the greenlight...

Fans of Matthew Vaughn's spectacularly OTT take on Mark Millar's The Secret Service will be happy to hear a sequel is in the works at 20th Century Fox. The first film passed $400 Million at the global box office just this past weekend, so when you also take into account how well the movie went over with fans and (most) critics, it was really a forgone conclusion. No word on whether Vaughn will return to direct, though he has quite a bit on his plate with the Flash Gordon reboot, an Eddie "The Eage" Edwards biopic, and the Wrap reckons he may also be in line to helm an adaptation of James Robinson's The Golden Age.

Vaughn has previously hinted that a return for Colin Firth is a possibility, and we'll assume Taron Egerton will be reprising the role of Eggsy.

I really hope Vaughn returns. Don't want this to turn into another Kick-Ass 2.

@Doopie

you have to, it's crazy and shows that you can have a CBM that's "mature" (R-rated action) but still be fun.

Only thing I didn't like was the very last shot. It was just a bit TOO silly, even for a spy movie parody.

@RorMachine I totally get what they were going for with that gag, but yeah it might've been a bit too much.

The rest of the film was written so cleverly, so it's kind of disappointing that Vaughn couldn't tackle that part with more wit.

@KurtWagner1225 Would be awesome if somehow they bring back his character from the death he was the best part of Kingsman.

Hopefully they don't try to combat Global Warming/Climate Change. I plan on using Lex Luthor's old real estate plan to benefit from it! Beach front property in McGeeberg.

Just saw the film last night. Pretty good, but the Bond films win my heart when it comes to spies/agents. I strongly agree with @RorMachine some things were just too goofy but I expect these things from the Millarverse. I cringed so hard watching Samuel Jackson with that lisp. LOL It was hilarious and I know it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously but man, I'll have to say that the greatest villain the dude has ever played has to be Mr. Glass.

But yeah all in all the film gets a 7.8/10 from me. That scene when he was trying to walk the pug had me dying laughing man and every time I heard Mark Hamill talk I just kept hearing the Joker. I would really love for him to star in a live action Batman Beyond movie as an old washed up Joker but I can only dream.

@doopie

you know I'm pretty critical but I thought this one was dumb doop. The plot is essentially james bond for kids, except they say [frick] 1,000 times, so you'd never let a kid actually watch it. with the exception of the "twist", it's pretty formulaic. it's not terrible by any means, but I would suggest waiting until this one is on the internets. and I like british shit!

This is good news; I really liked the first one. Hopefully, either Vaughn returns, or we get a director that won't make this another Kick-Ass 2.

Yes I know, but is there a Secrer Service comic where Harry Hart returns from the dead ?

Or will it just be a flashback, or worse, a prequel ??
