Possible Details On Martin Freeman's Role In CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR
Though we still don't have a name, we might just have some information on the type of character The Hobbit star will be playing in Marvel's third Captain America movie -- and if you know your comics, it shouldn't be too hard to come up with an educated guess as to who that character could be!
Last night we found out that Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit movies) had joined the already pretty well stocked cast of Captain America: Civil War in an undisclosed role. Given the fact that he's... well, Martin Freeman, it seemed unlikely that he'd be playing some kind of established Marvel superhero, so speculation leaned towards some of the supporting human characters from the comics.
Apparently you were on the right track, as in his weekly Marvel column, Latino Review's Dave Gonzalez reveals the following: "Martin Freeman plays some sort of interrogator and he will return to appear in Black Panther." Dave presents that info as fact, but also adds his own speculation.
When the news broke there were a lot of guesses that he might be playing either Henry Gyrich (Government Liaison to the Avengers), or Everett Ross (a Government agent assigned to Wakanda), and Dave also reckons it'll be the latter. Though the comic version of Everett is far from an interrogator, its possible they've simply added that element to his character in an effort to make him seem a little more badass -- if you don't think Freeman can play badass, just watch Sherlock -- but the Wakandan liaison part would obviously tie in with him returning for the solo Black Panther film at least.
That's still just speculation of course, so based on the information above, do you guys have any other ideas?
