Mark Strong On Possibly Reprising His GREEN LANTERN Role Of 'Sinestro'

Mark Strong's take on Sinestro is generally considered to be one of the few high points of the Green Lantern movie, but with a rebooted DC Cinematic Universe in the early stages, is their any chance he'd return? Find out what the Kingsman: The Secret Service actor had to say to MTV...

It's pretty much unheard of (unless you count Dame Judi Dench's M returning for the Daniel Craig era Bond flicks) for an actor to reprise a role once the movie they originally appeared in has been rebooted, but that doesn't stop fans wishing it would happen from time to time. Sure it'd mean continuity/canon issues - but who wouldn't like to see J.K. Simmons back as J.J. Jameson in Marvel's new Spider-Man movie for example? The same could be said for Mark Strong's Sinestro, who was praised as one of the only positive aspects of Warner Bros.' first Green Lantern attempt.

In an interview with MTV, Strong says he was proud of what he achieved with the performance, but doesn't think there's be a place for him in the DCCU as that character.

He's right of course... but if they do decide to revisit Sinestro for the new solo Green Lantern movie, they'll have a hard time finding a better fit for the role. What do you guys think?

Strong was great but a new Sinestro is needed to cut off all ties with that debacle of a film..

He should be proud.
Despite all the things wrong with the film, Strong easily delivered the best Sinestro we could have gotten. He was perfectly cast, and is clearly a fan of the character too. He "got" the character and that's what matters.

He was probably the best part of that movie… Especially since the best part of the movie is when he put on the yellow ring…. and then the credits role. They should've started with that.

I say give him another chance in the darker DCU…

He was by far the best part of that movie,but I still stand by my opinion that Reynolds played a good Hal,it was the story,effects,and directing that killed that flick

He was the best part of the movie! Shame we won't get to see his Sinestro any more.

Yeah, they'll have a tough time finding someone else to play that role.

Jason Isaccs maybe?

When James Bond was rebooted with Daniel Craig, they kept M (Judi Dench) from the Pierce Brosnan movies.

Even though his performance was terrific, the way his part was written was a huge part of why the movie made no sense. The moment he goes from "Green all the way!" suddenly to "Well we should probably just abandon the entire principle our Corps was founded on billions of years ago and go ahead and try yellow. Who's down?" is where the movie took a nosedive into the crapper.

I loved Strong as Sinestro. Perfect casting.

@SuperboyPrime1

I agree.

Green Lantern could and maybe should be a cinematic universe on it's own.

The other day on here I proposed the question should Ryan Reynolds & Mark Strong reprise their roles in the Green Lantern reboot, looks like I'm not the only one in favor of this idea.

I don't believe either were to blame for Green Lantern being what it was and I'd have no problem with either or both getting another shot with a reboot.

While the move might not been the best, i do however think that the casting in this movie was brilliant. The only onces that i questioned was Blake Lively (allthough she is allways gorgeus to look at) and Peter Sarsgaard. The rest was just top notch. When i read Green Lantern comics i do hear MCDs voice as Killowog (May he rest in peace) or Geoffory Rush when i see Tomar-Re

This movie is actually a guilty pleasure of mine

Please....just cast him as Mr. Freeze.

@Jollem

Actually, i have to agree.

Just so everyone now, i love a good comicbook movie, no matter if it is from Image, DC or Marvel.

With that said. I have a feeling that this movie would be seen as much better if it was a Marvel movie...

As much as I loved Mark Strong's Sinestro, I would prefer to see someone else tackle the role and stay away from that old Green Lantern.
Mads Mikkelsen for SINESTRO!

Whenever I hear someone say Reynolds played Hal well I just have to shake my head. I don't think they understand the character of Hal Jordan very well. The character wasn't written well in the movie but he still wasn't right for the part, unlike Deadpool which he is perfect for.

I liked Strong as Sinestro although of course the writing let him down too.

He was the only good thing about Green Lantern. But then again Mark Strong is brilliant.

The issue with the movie was that it didn't feel amazing. It had all of this Amazing stuff but it had terrible writing and no one seemed really blown away by anything. It needed the Vaughn treatment of things seeming totally unbelievable. Everyone was just like , oh there's a flying green dude who just made a crazy roller coaster thing with a ring...oh well..

I knew this most likely would be the case, but it's still sad news. I hope who ever gets to play Sinestro next does him justice. Personally though I want to see Atrocitus more.

Great actor and did a great job with what he was given. Would have no issues with him reprising the role.

He's perfect in the part, no need to recast just ignore the rest of the movie.
