COMICS: 'Beast' Becomes The Newest Member Of THE UNCANNY INHUMANS

Marvel may have all-but blacklisted the X-Men, but they're still picking and choosing certain mutant characters to use for their batch of upcoming "All-New, All-Different" titles. Click on to see how Hank McCoy looks alongside the rest of the Uncanny Inhumans...

We already knew that Fantastic Four member Johnny Storm/the Human Torch had joined the Inhumans, and now it's been revealed that Black Bolt and co. have drafted a former X-Man too. Hank McCoy, AKA Beast, will suit up alongside Black Bolt and Medusa to search for their son, Ahura, in the very first arc from Charles Soule.

"Kind of like what we did with Guardians, and are doing with Doctor Strange," the writer tells Mashable. "Once we make this movie announcement, we wanted to come out of the gate swingin'." Sounds like certain aspects of this new take might inform the upcoming movie, which has already had foundations laid in Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series.

Here is the cover for issue #1, featuring artwork from Steve McNiven.

"Eight months will have passed between that monumental finale and the beginning of all Marvel’s reboots — about 60 titles in all will re-start with fresh No. 1s — and something “mysterious” will have transpired in that time between the mutants and the Inhumans. Whatever it is, it will have landed Hank McCoy on the side of the royal family."

Did anyone read this week's Punisher? I read it last night and they took a shot at the Ben Kingsley's Mandarin. Frank hasn't killed him yet, but I'm sure he will next issue. This is the same book that had terrorists blow up the new cast of the FF.

Is that the the teleporter from Agents of Shield?
Stop. Just stop.

No, it's the other way around . . . and I don't like it.

Not Gambit. Some blind guy who can see the future or something. And Beast sucks. They can have him. LOL.

Krazyfoxkomix- I'm pretty sure that's the reader he was introduced in inhumans after the terrigen bomb blew up in infinity, I think he was introduced in the comics before aos was released. Also he is far stronger and cooler than Gordon in aos.

FranksCastle - 6/26/2015, 7:56 AM
So yeah, the one with the staff is Reader, actually the one with in AOS (Gordon) was introduced in the Uncanny Inhumans so that's different. I love the new costumes and also really like the new variety to the team. Loving the inhumans now.

@Gusto - This is what really happened last night at Gusto's.

And then SuperCat finally showed up late to the party as usual.

But with the wrong idea.

Everybody is assuming this is 616 Beast. Maybe he is another survivor from a dead reality where he was Inhuman. Or maybe that's regular Beast and they broadened the sense of being Inhuman.
KrazyForKomix
KrazyForKomix - 6/26/2015, 9:28 AM
I doubt Beast will appear in the MCU.
But as for the comics, Marvel does seem to be deliberately spreading and shuffling the mutants around the 616.
I don't know WHAT the goal is, but there IS a goal (or plan).
They've diluted the whole "uncanny" phrase. This is not an accident.
Spread the phrase around;
Spread the mutants around;
and alter lineages of key mutants (and before anyone has a fit – yes of course comics have played with origin stories and retrofit events before – and this is no different – except for the why they're doing it. And we all know why they're doing it)

@blackagar94

It's natural for people to think that he's from the 616. That is base and fount from which Marvel naturally springs.

But you DO have a good point - wouldn't be great if it was Dark Beast (295) or the Pope Bast (from Peter David's X-factor run).

osideous - 6/26/2015, 9:59 AM
it's what i've been saying all along. they are making the mutants inhumans or another off shoot of inhumans. marvel found a loop hole and will exploit the hell out of it.

HMM makes me wonder. If Marvel was able to use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch because they were Avengers does that mean they can use Beast because was a Defender?

@KrazyForKomix I get totally get it, it's just sometimes people freak without knowing the full story. Wait for the details, bros. And yeah, Dark Beast was my first thought. We'll see :).
As for Human Torch, he is dating Medusa, so if he dated her before joining the team, it could be reason for him to BE in the team, even though he isn't Inhuman. And the FF have a long history with the Inhumans anyway, so why not.

More like his second mutated stage. He was black for a few months before mutating blue

The art looks weird in some places. Like it was distorted or something, especially Triton, but Medusa and Reader too. Blackagar looks perfect, though. About time he got a costume update.

X-Men fans can be mad at Marvel all they want, but this fall squarely on Fox and their inability to get along between the two studios.
KrazyForKomix
KrazyForKomix - 6/26/2015, 10:40 AM
@blackagar94

Johnny hanging out with the Inhumans is no problem for me. Those guys are like a second home to the FF. I didn't know he was dating Medusa. THAT strikes me as odd. But it's no more strange Johnny being with the Inhumans anymore than it is when Sue hangs out with the Sub Mariner in Underwater Land.

And since we recently (within the past 10 years) retro fit the Illuminati back into the beginnings of Marvel's superhero age, we know that Hank and Black Bolt have been work-buddies for years and years.

If it does turn out that these two characters (Johnny and Hank) show up in an Inhumans' movie, then all this is just forced legalistic plotting to be able to say "HEY! Look what we did! We based it on the Marvel comic book and brought it to life. We based it on the source material!"

I'm not buying it for Marvel's treatment of comic book Ant-Man - and I won't buy it for the Inhumans (INCLUDING their newest members Quicksilver and Scarlet Which) either.

FEH!
I say FEH to movie dictated retrofits!

The X-men have been shite since AvX. Worst amongst them has been Beast. Why did he even bring the original X-Men to the future? It was so half baked. Thanks Bendis.Beast may well be responsible for breaking the timestream leading to Marvel currently being f*cked. He at least contributed.

There are a lot of characters I don't care about, but Beast and Storm I actually hate. Iceman too. Bendis made them dicks.
