Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel will premiere Guardians of the Galaxy on September 26 on Disney XD, with special sneak peeks and character profiles airing from August 1. Below we have the very first poster featuring Star Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot front and center. There's also our first proper synopsis, which teases some very cook guest stars. For more details on exactly when the promotion is set to kick off, click the link below.

[Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy] follows the newly-formed team who finds a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed which is capable of giving birth to the next universe. It’s up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy features the voice talents of Will Friedle as Star-Lord, David Sobolov’s as Drax, Vanessa Taylor asGamora, Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot and Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon. Plus, James Arnold Taylor will play both Yondu and Cosmo.

So is this part of the MCU?, dead Ronan. Or is it a part of the current cartoon universe?

Not too thrilled about this.

Give us a Season 3 of Earths Mightiest Heroes on Netflix.

it's not part of the MCU, it just borrows the character traits and designs from the James Gunn movie, but it's its own thing.

Yeah, it's not connected to the movie(s) aside from the asthetics.

you would think that Marvel would improve on animation. They seem to be going backwards

I actually don't mind & like the current drawings / art / designs of Avengers Assemble & don't mind how these Guardians are drawn.

Problem with current Marvel animation is the look & aesthetics of the characters all being influenced & resembling their MCU counter parts.

It would be great to see these drawings / art of these shows with the looks & costumes of the characters from EMH or more comic looking / 616 costumes.

As much as I love Marvel Studios & the MCU, I DON'T like it dictating the look or style of both Marvel's Comic Books or Animations / Cartoons. The toons & comics don't need to look like the MCU but I guess they see that as an easier sell & marketing tool to kids that can see the similarities between the two.

A resurrected Ronan The Accuser, big boss Thanos and the same character designs from the films...

Is this show a non-canon continuation of the movie?!

As far as my actual opinion goes, the show doesn't look very good. I'm not sure if this is set in the same universe as Ultimate Spider-Man (despite having the film's character models) or the film.

Another kiddy kid cartoon for the marvelite sucklings. Can't wait for suicide skwad to expose the guardians for what they truly are:a bunch of do good intergalactic boyscouts.james Gunn destroyed the premise of the Guardians with that 2014 glorified music video now David Ayer gon show the world how a real gang of villains hook up.2016 can't get here fast enough.

@YoungThanos If you're saying that because it's "Disney" you should research animation more. Animation Companies =/= Creators. Sure the companies control some things but just because you like one writer or artist in a comic from Marvel, doesn't mean another comic from the company is going to be good.

Look up Greg Weisman. He's the man behind Gargoyles, and you might be surprised to find out what he's done since his work on the Disney show. He's done Spectacular Spider-Man, Young Justice, and helped developed the first season of Star Wars Rebels.

If there's any man to watch out for, it's him. Not the Disney label.
HachibiTheMC
HachibiTheMC - 7/6/2015, 3:16 PM
Not a part of MCU officially, but any idiot can see the influence. Character designs have changed in the cartoon after every movie.

Disney's Marvel block is it's own universe.

So Ultimate Spidey, Avengers Assemble, Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and now probably GoTG, all share a universe

people shouldn't be shocked by this. it was super blatant in Ultimate Spider-Man when the Guardians showed up for their second appearance in The Milano (like a week after the movie dropped). Then they made Rocket all cute-and-disney like and I was like "here we go...".

Now that Avengers Assemble are doing this Ultron shtick its like "you're not even trying to be sly about it"

Wouldn't be a bit surprised if some Civil War-centric story arc comes out next year right after the movie, and then Avengers Infinity War will "force" all of Disney's Marvel cartoons into a mega "Infinity Gauntlet-esque" crossover event.

Mark my words.

MARK THEM!!
