Apparently 'Darth Vader' Will Appear In STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY : ROGUE ONE

We know the Dark Lord of the Sith was active during the movie's time-frame, but most of us felt it might be too much to hope for a live-action appearance. Well, a new rumor suggests that's just what we'll be getting in the Gareth Edwards directed spin-off! Click on for more...

We know Godzilla director Gareth Edwards will helm Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One, we know it'll focus on a rogue band of resistance fighters uniting to steal the plans for the original Death Star, and we know that the cast includes (so far) Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, Sam Clafin, Forest Whitaker, and Riz Ahmed. Edwards has also said to expect a much darker journey to the galaxy far, far away; and suggested that this won't be the usual ultimate good VS. ultimate evil type of story.

However, that doesn't mean a representation of ultimate evil won't be a factor, because now we might just know something else about the movie: It'll feature Darth f*cking Vader! BMD has heard that Lord Vader will indeed make an appearance, though by the sounds of things he won't play a huge role in the story.

"Darth Vader will be in Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One. He will not be the main antagonist but he will be working behind the scenes, pulling strings and will appear onscreen. Literally, I'm told - he'll be showing up via viewscreen or holo projection or something."

So probably best not to get too excited at the prospect of seeing Vader in his prime, taking out rebel scum with his lightsaber - but a new live-action appearance in any capacity is worth getting hyped about. It remains to be seen if James Earl Jones will return to provide that iconic voice, but he did for Star Wars Rebels so it's definitely a good possibility.

Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One hits theaters December 16, 2016.

Disney is going to run Star Wars into the the ground faster than CBS did with all those CSI spinoffs.

GOTG and Thanos instantly came to mind. One badass scene, teased, glimpsed throughout.

It makes sense considering the premise of the film.

@MrCBM

Except we've seen Darth Vader as a badass and all we've seen Thanos do is nothing for 3 films.

Don't care. Now, if they were to talk Star Wars post-RotJ, I am all ears.

Sounds bad ass, but is there like a Star Wars brain trust making sure this universe has good continuity?

Jeezus, could we possibly move this franchise forward?

It's one prequel after another! Move the narrative forward!

This is easily my most anticipated Anthology film. We're basically getting Saving Private Ryan in the Star Wars universe!

Have you heard of a movie called The Force Awakens? You know, the one that takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi?

You know as crazy as this sounds, I kind of wish Darth Vader's last appearance was Return of the Jedi. It makes him more legendary if he's never seen on screen again, but just spoken about.

@TheAmbassador

The Anthology movies are their own thing, the only thing that connects them is that they take place in the Star Wars universe

@DrKinsolving He voiced Vader in Star Wars Rebels, so... if he's still alive he will do it again for Rogue one.

Oh I'm sure there will be mentions of different events and characters that we know. But I believe as far as the overall story goes, they're going to be standalone adventures.

Get James Earl Jones into the studio for his dialogue before it's too late. He's not getting any younger you know.

It'll be cool to see Darth Vader becoming the legend that he already is in Ep 4. Hopefully there is a scene where he cuts down dozens of Rebels single-handedly.
