New SPECTRE Footage In The Official Video For Sam Smith's "Writing's On The Wall"

Sam Smith's new James Bond theme hasn't been embraced by the fans in the same way Adele's awesome "Skyfall" was, but the official video does contain quite a bit of revealing new footage from the movie.

Y'know what? I think the song's great. It works really well with the Spectre footage, and I'm sure it'll be even better when I'm sitting in the theatre.

Sam Smith's theme is absolutely atrocious.

The theme is too vulnerable for a bond song. If you apply the lyrics to bond, he seems like a love sick, indecisive, amateur. The man has shown he is very driven for the past 50 years (even when he falls in love) and always gets the job done first and foremost (sometimes even losing people along the way).

Even Bond themes I don't care for highlight aspects of this theme but never really take away from Bonds character. I'm talking 'we have all the time in the world' 'nobody does it better' and 'for your eyes only' stuff here.

And I will say it again that Florence should get a crack at a bond theme. The epic orchestration fits well with the type of music she already makes.

The footage is amazing though. Looks beautiful. The song feels like its building to something awesome...then it doesn't. But whatever, it's not the worst.

Love this song, Sam Smith and Disclosure are the perfect combination.

Sam Smith's voice isn't suited for a James Bond theme song.

And the lyrics make it sound like Bond is some lovesick spy...

Just terrible all around.

Um, no. This does not work. Sorry. Its not terrible, but its most definitely not for a Bond film.

This isn't a bad theme at all, it think Adele set the bar really high with Skyfall.

They should have gotten Lana Del Rey and asked her to do a more traditional classic sounding theme song. Adele's Skyfall sounded like a proper modern follow up to themes like Goldfinger.

By far the most unimpressive Bond song, for me.

This one is my fav, then

Adele's Sky fall.

I want to watch the opening credits for Spectre. My favourite one is probably Casino Royale.

Yeah, something seems a bit off here.
I'd like to see it with the titles as opposed to cutting away to the singer constantly. It may work better with titles.
It seems to work with the gloomy tone of the film but we'll see.
Not the best but definitely not the worse.

@fettastic

Your list is on point. Pretty close to what mine would look like.

I lie the song. To me it has a very traditional James Bond Theme sound. I don't think it makes Bond seem like a "lovesick" fool. If you really listen to some the past themes if you took them out of the context of a Bond movie they could almost be love songs.

It's a good song, and will fit in nicely with Spectre's themes. Any hate for it is premature internet trolling.

Adele's song was just the James Bond Theme slowed down. Even Jack Black's effort would have been good if not for Alicia Keys shouting ("Bang! Bang!) off key all over it. Look to John Barry for the greatest stuff, followed by the Brosnan/Arnold era without the Madonna travesty for the rest of the best. Goldeneye is very good. License To Kill is great. The Living Daylights and A View To A Kill were fun. You Know My Name is terrific. Even "The Spy Who Loved Me" was a hoot. This latest one starts slowly and goes absolutely nowhere, with Sam Smith imitating Tiny Tim on a song that is DOA within a minute or so.

I really don't mind it and I think it'll grow on me. I think Adelle's Skyfall is by far the best Bond theme song since Tina Turner's Goldeneye and is the one to beat for me. One thing I find interesting though is that the version of Chris Cornell's 'You Know My Name' that they released for the single and radio play (they refer to it as the rock version apparently) is way way better than the version used in the film. It's got a more raw, less rock-lounge-ish feel to it which would've suited the movie way more.

The song by itself is good, just not good for a Bond film. If I had to go for teh best Bond songs in te latest bunch of films, clearly it'd be Adele's and Chris Cornell's. Those were pure Bond, even thoughthey couldn't have been more radically different from each other.
