Fox And Marvel Refute Today's FANTASTIC FOUR Rumor

We all got very excited after this morning's rumor, but our update to that story is sure to disappoint fans that thought there was a chance we'd see Marvel's First Family come home. It seems both studios involved have flat out denied that any rights deal has been struck...

Almost immediately after the rumor that Marvel had regained the rights to Fantastic Four hit the net, other outlets began to deny it per their sources at the studios. Now while that doesn't really mean a whole lot as studio denial is common with any rumor like this, EW's Anthony Breznican has reached out to his trusted sources and they've 100% confirmed: the rights to the Fantastic Four remain at Fox.

So what gave with the rumor? Well, it wouldn't be like Den Of Geek to just pull something like this out of thin air, so chances are they just got some bad information - whatever the case may be, for the rime being get used to the notion of that Fantastic Four sequel from 20th Century Fox.

Manufactured news, everybody.

Move along.

(I really, really wanted the cosmic IP that's tied up with the FF, too)

All FOX needs to do is hire a great director who has more than one successful recent movie under his belt and say the entire first movie was just a vision by UATU the Watcher and it never happened.

I was thinking that deal seemed a little one-sided

Yesterday's rumor was just like ElMayimbe's scoops. Some obvious speculation with a high chance of being true without any real evidence.
Of course that didn't mean it couldn't be true but believing 100% in it was foolish

If Fox were to even attempt a sequel they'll have to whip out a proven director.

I'm thinking that there is a deal in the works. However nether studio will confirm anything until it set in stone

Quick question: Why has 'Den of Geek' become so prominent as of late? Have they proved to be reliable with rumors of this nature? It just appears to me as though every week they're providing major claims, is all.

Den. Of. Geek. You should be ashamed of yourself for what you did.
We don't stand on a mountain on top of the world and claim our genitalia is the biggest only to reveal a very small pee-pee once we have everybody's attention.
Now go to your room and think about what you've done.

What Marvel got out of yesterday's deal were two more projects they can receive licensing fees from.

If there was anything more than that, they would have wrapped it all up in one big announcement.

To be fair, though, I think there was very possibly deliberation on such a deal and then Fox said no. Maybe. Fvck, I wish this'd been true.

(jollem@ cheers for the heads up on that DK30th vid. S'awesomes.)

It isn't part of it now, but Fox would still be completely and utterly stupid to continue putting their hands on this property, so either they fail miserably again, or they find a way to sell the property while making a profit. If it does go back to Marvel, and everything points that it should, I don't think we'll get word for a very long time. I still want to know what friggin Marvel got out of this whole ordeal, because I'm pretty sure they did own the T.V. rights. They could be negotiating right now for all I know, but still, a long time till we get any word.

@McGee has this meme about how a situation like this "Must be a victory for DC!" with a picture of a sweaty fanboy or something. I can't find it anywhere, but it'd be REALLY appropriate for this thread.

Fox got to really stupid or blind to not know that everyone don't want to see another FOX FF movie.

Making another FF film would be a suicide mission!!!

WTH is FOX doing with the property now!?!
