SONS OF ANARCHY Actor Tommy Flanagan Joins GOTHAM As 'The Knife'

It seems Fox's Gotham has added another bad guy to its already teeming roster, as Scottish actor Tommy Flanagan (Sin City, Sons of Anarchy, Peaky Blinders, Gladiator) has joined the cast of the show as a hitman known as The Knife. More past the jump...

Tommy Flanagan himself confirmed that he'd joined the cast of Gotham early last month with the below Tweet, but now Comicbook.com has found out which character he'll be playing: it seems Mr. Flanagan will be bringing life to yet another villain, as he'll appear as a vicious but charming contract killer named The Knife.

Here's the site's description of The Knife, who would seem to be a character created just for the show. "The Knife is one of Gotham’s most dangerous denizens. His charming, stylish shell and good humor mask a remorseless hitman whose skills are at the service of the highest bidder. He will sit with you, laugh with you, and then cut your throat."

Apparently Flanagan will make his debut in episode 10 of Gotham, which continues tonight.

It's going to be odd seeing him in another role outside S.O.A. He will be a good addition to the show though.

That SoA finale was [frick]ing laughable, but I still loved Tommy all the way through.

This whole season has been really good in my opinion! It's going to be interesting to see how this whole Jerome twist plays out & some Batman Returns coming back at us when Paul Reubens hits the scene playing Penguins dad again. That was a good casting choice!

I consider myself somewhat of an unofficial expert on Batman and I know of some very obscure Batman villains. However, I don't recall any villain known as "the Knife." Is he an original character?

I have enjoyed and defended this show since day one. I'm glad to see a lot of the naysayers coming around. It may not have comic book "anal retentiveness" that many demand, but for what it is and does, it's damn entertaining. And really, look at ALL live action comic book stuff, it's all screwed around with to some degree. Some less, some more, but even something like Gotham is still recognizable to fans, even in the liberties it takes. I go back far enough to remember how live action comic book movies and TV REALLY departed from the source material. And a lot of that was still enjoyable to whatever degree. I assume more people than not, on this site, are younger than myself, so I understand a lot of people may not have that point of perspective. Believe me, what we have today is fantastic! And again, to me, moaning and groaning about somebody's less than comic book accurate costume is...well, silly. Take it from me, relax and be delighted for what we have today in this area of entertainment. Peace and love.

I simply can't stand super-heroes TV shows, simply can't... i hate them all. I was starting to like Daredevil, but then it became "meh" very quickly after the initial episodes. I hope to enjoy what is coming next for DD with Punisher and stuff, is the last chance for me.

@Foolsgoldfinger, nope... you totally lost me. I do enjoy a lot of shows based in comics, like TWD for instance, i think that Preacher has a lot of potential too, like some other comic books derivatives. What i told was that i don't like SUPER HEROES tv shows. That's all. And believe me... i ain't no youngster here. lol

He should've just been Lazlo Soot, and have a 'Smokin' Aces' crossover.

@Foolsgoldfinger... I've been saying that on this site for a while now. Remember when all we had were shows like MANTIS and Midnight Man and we were thankful? We are incredibly spoiled now. Many either forget how unbelievably far we have come in terms of quality AND quantity, or aren't old enough to have experienced the days when we had to wait years for 1 comparatively mediocre CBM. Man, I don't even have time to watch all the shows! What a time to be a fan!

Yep, it's looking bleak right now. Ben's gonna need to throw for 400 yards per game from now on.

With him out, Deangelo Williams will get the job done running the ball but, we'll lose out on all the other things Le'Veon Bell brings. It's time for the air attack to make it's season debut to Brown, Bryant & Wheaton like last season! I'm tired of all these knee injuries in the NFL! It takes so much away from the game for everybody! In the year 2015, nobody has invented some kind of knee brace or padding to wear over the knees that's mandatory to wear by the NFL that will help reduce mcl & acl tears? Concussion helmets to reduce the risk but, no special knee braces or padding. You can't even have mini camps, training camps & pre season games without losing players for the season before it even starts.
