Possible SPOILERS Regarding The Villains' Motivations In WONDER WOMAN

You've heard the rumor that both the God of War, Ares, and Circe the Sorceress would feature as the antagonists in Patty Jenkins' solo Wonder Woman movie, and now we might just have some details on what brings Diana into conflict with them. Possible plot SPOILERS ahead...

Here we have some pretty major details on how the plot of the solo Wonder Woman movie could well play out, specifically in regards to the villains of the piece and what drives them.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Ares will be the chief baddie, using Circe as a pawn to get what he wants: an ancient Amazonian sword so powerful it could make him the God among Gods, and allow him to take over Olympus. Apparently his aim is to start World War III in order to feed off of the energy generated by the massive amount of death and destruction that would result, giving him enough power to gain possession of the sword. Ares sends Circe to keep Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) busy, changing human men into beasts as she goes, and herself becoming a Chimera for the final battle.

There's also a mention of a certain Caped Crusader, who might just be watching things unfold from a distance. The theory is he'll confront Wonder Woman about what happened when he meets her in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which will see Diana searching for the lost sword.

There's more at the link below so be sure to check it out. What do you think of these details? Sounds pretty cool to me, but of course even if all of this was accurate at one time, it's always subject to change. Sean Bean and Eva Green were rumored to be in the running to play Ares and Circe, but we haven't heard anything solid since.

Wonder Woman is scheduled to be released on June 23, 2017.

I'm still waiting on that Batman V Superman trailer on the series premiere of Supergirl and an episode of Gotham.

Sounds cool. I'm just happy they're incorporating mythology into the plot.

@dev7

"DC movies outside Batman or Superman doesn't tend to do well. This movie could be another Green Lantern or Man of Steel either box office or critically or both."

With Gal Gadot in the lead, thats an extremely safe assumption.

@fumardude

By not doing well do you mean both critically and financially?

I think fans and WB just have to keep their expectations low for films like WW, Flash, and Aquaman.

I think each can at least do Ant-Man numbers ($500 million), and that should be roughly profitable, depending on budgets.

WB can make it up with the solo Batman films and the Justice League films.

So basically the Ares episode of Justice League in season 1...more or less.

So we have to wait until the Wonder Woman solo film, to truly understand the search for the sword in BVS????? Betting Lex has this legendary sword. Where has Ares, A GOD, been all this time...alot to explain but in intrigued

Kudos to WB for not being afraid to have their gods be gods. And please don't tell me that Batman is going to be this.

Has Sean Bean and Ea Green been confirmed for this by any chance?

Saw the source and went immediately to the comments. No point in reading bullshit.

Also, even if the not immortal Sean Bean is Area, he won't die. DC wants to build their universe and that universe is eventually going to lead to Teen Titans or Young Justice and that means Wondergirl and her daddy problems.

I don't know if I believe this. Seems to obvious of a plot. I was hoping they'd go different and outside the box.

Best Wonder Woman story I've ever read

Would love to see it adapted

Inciting world war III for his own plans... that's some serious mustache twirling there.
Yea, I'm not buying these rumors yet.

I have a feeling that Wonder Woman is going to pass the Bechdel test and it's going to put it on another level of filmmaking.

@Ramiel I think Marvel acknowledges Asgardians as gods but not every character does. On AOS, Coulson sometimes refers to thor as a god by saying "oh I know a god or I've met one", but sometimes he'll say Thor is an alien god....In Raganarok, they can't hide from the fact that they're gods. Either way, they'll have to directly state that what ragnarok is- the end of the gods. Thor referee yo himself as the god of Thunder to ultron. Guys like Stark, will only call Thor an alien as he doesn't believe in all that deity magic talk

@Kr08 it's the ULTIMATE Bechdel Test film as the protagonist comes from A LAND OF FEMALES haha. Idk if that puts it in this new realm of filmmaking though, but it'll be nice to see a film mostly populated by women; strong, resonant women. I hope the Amazonia dynamic is done well. I hope the depirciiton of them is done right
