STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS Screens Early For Daniel Fleetwood
#ForceForDaniel won, and terminally ill Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood got to experience one last trip to the galaxy far, far away courtesy of Disney and Lucasfilm. Both he and his wife, Ashley, watched an unedited cut of The Force Awakens, and posted their reaction to Facebook...
When Star Wars super-fan Daniel Fleetwood was diagnosed with a rare connective tissue cancer known as spindle cell sarcoma this past July, he was only given 2 months to live. Though Daniel has outlived that initial prognosis (the Force is strong with this one), he was recently told that his condition had worsened, and he would most likely not make it to see The Force Awakens on December 18.
Well, upon hearing this, fans and celebrities (Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Carrie Fisher and Daisy Ridley among them) banded together, and with the power of the #ForceForDaniel hashtag were able to secure an early screening of the movie.
Daniel's wife Ashley posted the following to Facebook after the couple sat down to watch an unedited version of J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
“To all our wonderful supporters, friends, family and awesome strangers: Daniels final dream was just granted!!! Today the wonderful Disney and Lucasfilms made his final dream come true, in the amazing typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true! Lastly I want to thank ALL the amazing people who helped make this happen, thank you beyond words!!! May the force be with you all.”
Apparently the both loved the film, but obviously weren't able to elaborate beyond that. Godspeed Daniel, and from all of us here at CBM, may the Force be with you, always.
