New JUNGLE BOOK Still Features Our First Proper Look At Lupita Nyong'o's 'Raksha'

Empire has released a brand new official image from Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action take on Disney's The Jungle Book. The pic features Mowgli in a tearful embrace with his surrogate mother, Raksha.

"There was a certain quality we wanted, and we knew he was going to have to carry the film," Favreau told Empire when asked about his decision to cast young newcomer Neel Sethi in the lead role of Mowgli. "So it was going to have to be somebody that had a certain charisma, a certain charm and certain qualities that I remember from the cartoon."

The Jungle Book is an upcoming American live-action/CGI film directed by Jon Favreau, written by Justin Marks, and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The film's executive producers are Molly Allen, Karen Gilchrist, Peter M. Tobyanse. Music will be written by John Debney.


The Jungle Book also stars Emjay Anthony as Grey Brother, Bill Murray as Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Christopher Walken as King Louie, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, and Giancarlo Esposito as Akela. The movie hits theaters April 15, 2016.

I hate these remakes but this looks great and the jungle book is the best one to adapt

Shoulda seen BVS 5 to 6 times by the time this movie drops.should be a nice nostalgic thrill ride to soothe the nerve before hopping back on the roller coaster with civil war and apocalypse.

I dunno - IMO they'll be hard-pressed to beat the 1994 version starring Jason Scott Lee. That was pretty dang good.
