LINK TO UPDATED INFO: Bond 23 Put on "Indefinite" Hold

According to a joint statement by producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, development of Bond 23 (rumored to be called "The Property of a Lady") has been halted in its tracks.

The culprit behind this is not Quantum or SPECTRE or even SMERSH, but, instead, is MGM, which is desperately attempting to avoid complete bankruptcy.

Said the Wilson/Broccoli statement, "Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on 'Bond 23' indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of 'Bond 23,'" stated Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli jointly."

Unfortunately the Bond film rights are half-owned by the studio, so it's not like the producers can bring the project elsewhere.

That's a shame, I really liked the first one with Daniel Craig, let's hope they get another shot..

Damn, I really wanted to find out what would have happened in the next one. Now we will never know if there will be an eeeevil foreign villain, a nonsensical plot, if Bond will shag an unfeasibly hot chick, kill a load of people, save the day, have a martini and say "Bond..James Bond";) Ah no, sucks for the fans alright. But maybe Mendes will get his ass back on Preacher now!

This is awful news. I really enjoy the Daniel Craig storyline. It was building up to a third one.

Deja vu anyone? I hope this would not be the repeat of Dalton Bond stigma. Note that in the case of Timothy Dalton the production was put on hold for more than 5 years until he got tired of waiting. Dalton starred only in two, the latter "Licence to Kill" receiving a poor box office.

Daniel Craig and Timothy Dalton were two actors who played Bond as close to Ian Fleming's books.Their performances were similar as well. When I watch Casino Royale Timothy Dalton is the only past Bond I could see in that movie.Could you ever see Roger Moore tied naked to a chair and getting his balls beat?Neither can I.
That being said I agree with Kalabog. It does remind me of the early '90's.I was disappointed we did'nt get to see Tim in more Bond movies.I don't think that will happen with Daniel. His movies are bigger box office than Tim's.Whoever is producing Bond in the future will be sure to have him star.

Crack open that piggy banks if you're the co owners, and buy it from MGM (the other half), and then you have the whole thing for yourself and make your money back.

Eventually the financial situation will get worked out.If they do end up replacing Daniel in the next one it won't be the end of the world.People were up in arms 40 years ago when Sean left the part.
