Crossbones screen time in
Captain America: The Winter Solider was not necessarily robust, but it was very, very effective. Hence, there's a small but growing contigent of fans anxiously awaiting the next on screen appearance of the Captain America foe. However,
in a new interview with ScreenCrush, Grillo hints that former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA double-agent Brock Rumlow, could turn up in a film that's not a standalone Captain America feature. First, Grillo has to stop himself from gushing about the designs for his new costume, "You know, they are
so– I have to tell you…," but unfortunately, Grillo stops himself before giving anything substantial away. However, he does go on to add, "Yeah, his face is burned. If you read the comics about Crossbones, you know, Marvel always takes their interpretation of the comics. It’s exciting." And when asked if he could be the bad guy version of Black Widow, meaning that he's capable of showing up in any MCU film, Grillo stated, "He could show up in anything. He could have his own thing. He could really have his own thing."
Perhaps there's a chance that Crossbones make's an appearance in Joss Whedon's
Avengers: Age of Ultron? Or maybe there's a Crossbones
Marvel One-Shot in the cards? However, there was a nice Falcon vs Crossbones subtext developed in
The Winter Soldier that I'm sure the Russo brothers will not abandon in the third Captain America movie. I'd wager that Rumlow simply gets up to some mischief prior to the next Cap movie which is currently slated for release on May 6, 2016, giving Rumow time to show up in
Avengers:AOU,
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or the
Daredevil Netflix series.
