Even if you haven't kept up to date on interviews, press releases and viral marketing, the plot for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes shouldn't be too surprising. A virus has broken out and it has decimated the human population to incredibly low numbers. Whether that same virus impacted Ceasar's followers or some other affliction kept their numbers equally low, according to Keri Russell, the numbers of both groups are so low each thinks the other side has died out. "I can tell you that it's 10 years after 'Rise' and basically, there's been this virus outbreak and there's very little of civilization alive. The apes that are left don't think there are any humans left and the humans left don't think there are any apes left. Through a set of circumstances, they meet up and it's really about can the two communities exist together. I play one of the existing humans in the colony and I have some medical skills, although it's not like I'm a big fancy doctor...I'm sort of Jason Clarke's girlfriend."

Tom Hammel (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is executive producing."

@ezio cloverfield is considered a pretty okay film, and let me in, a remake of the swedish let the right one in, is considered very good, especially for a remake, and sucks that this was your first apes film, cause the original planet of the apes is friggen awesome and classic. not caring for good movies is your problem

First one was epic...it was a nice surprise...I'm hopeful on this one...but, unlike a lot of people on this site, I actually liked James Franco in the movie, and his hot Slum Dog girlfriend...kinda pissed that they are not coming back

@ezio...try it if you want...that's one of those movies where, if you didn't see it when you were 7, you won't enjoy it...I loved it as a kid, and it was already 15 or 20 years old, but as an adult, it's not very fun to watch compared to today's movies... It was good at the time though

I'm only 15 and I love the original Planet of the Apes, all the sequels to it like Beneath the Planet of the Apes or Escape of the Planet of the Apes never even came close to how great the original is. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is really the first film in the franchise to come even close to the quality of the original hopefully the sequel delivers

@ NapoleonDynamite - That'd probably be my list for next year to a tee, but I'd include Transcendence too. Still, good selection man.

@ Ezio - It definitely is worth checking out the original Planet of the Apes. The effects are obviously dated now, but the story is still a blinder and easily surpasses a lot of the efforts to come out of the film industry in recent years. I actually preferred it as a stand alone film though and have disregarded the sequels and t.v. series.
