Sharni Vinson Tomb Raider Elektra

While promoting her new horror film, You're Next (which is receiving rave reviews from the critics), Australian actress Sharni Vinson (Step Up 3D) spoke with Flicks and the City about her interest in Tomb Raider and Elektra. Vinson has gone on record previously to state that she'd like to reboot the Tomb Raider film series and expanded further on those thoughts here about why she's interested in Lara Croft. "It's those exact type of roles that I'm really seeking. Roles that I can sink my teeth into as an actor but also as someone that [grew up] with so many sports and is super, super physical. The more you can put me in training and the more I can actually do on a set, the better for me. Standing and delivering a line every now and then gets quite old, quite quickly. When it comes to physical roles, I thrive on that and something like the Lara Croft series would just be amazing because it's the same type of female empowerment that we're trying to get across and I think is just a stand-up role model for all women out there. If I could be the one that can portray that and hopefully kickstart that off again in this generation, that would be amazing. Because it's been a while I feel, that we've had that female role model to look up to and that's what attracted me to [You're Next]."

The conversation then turned to Joss Whedon's recent statement about the lack of superhero women on movie screens and if Vinson would be interested in playing a superhero role. Vinson was all for it, stating, "Give me Elektra, something cool. I have fun coming on to sets, it's kind of like dress up...When it comes to those types of superhero movies, it would be fun to put on the red lycra red catsuit."

Does the America actor even exist any more? Just curious. It seems that most leading roles are going to Australians and Europeans. Not hating but it does seem curious.

Always found it funny that people here would turn down beautiful talented actresses for roles.

"No thanks"? What have you done with your life recently?

@Soundwave: Kingpin is over at Sony and was on loan to Fox according to Avi Arad.

@Soundwave,

At least Kevin Feige believes that Elektra returned with Daredevil. I think there is a 90% chance that she returned with all Daredevil related characters. The 10% is because no one, even Feige w/o consulting legal, knows what kind of legal web Marvel put itself in with Fox.

Personally, I'd like to keep Elektra away from the Avengers. Put her in a Daredevil movie or a Heroes For Hire movie. A street level movie needs to happen Marvel.

Yea... No. Besides, I seriously doubt Elektra will even be in Avengers 3. We need Black Panther, Hank Pym, wasp, dr. Strange and vision before we get Elektra IMO. She looks more like future Hope with that red hair but I can't say for sure cause I haven't seen her act. In other words, if she really wants to play Elektra then do it in a damn Daredevil movie where she belongs.

@Enormous,

Feige also thinks he has rights to Kingpin as well. I don't know if you believe Ari or Feige but Kingpin orginated in Spider-man but has been a recurring villain for both Daredevil and The Punisher (both now back with MCU). Don't know how all that will work out, maybe a Quicksilver type solution but we can all agree that you should never hire the lawyers who did Marvel's property deals with these studios.

@SpecialKail,

Elektra would be great on film again. Just not the Jennifer Garner Elektra. The character should have never had her own movie but she would be great in a rebooted Daredevil movie or an ensemble movie.

I have never heard her name or seen her outside of this video so i have no idea what her ability is. I agree that I want more strong female role models in general and in CBMs in particular. She could probably do something if she's actually any good. Not sure what, exactly. Not Elektra. At least not in Avengers 3.

i saw her in this shark movie called Bait 3d, she has a decent body but she looks very old in the face!

Elektra before DareDevil is not a good in a Avengers movie and would be hard to pull off without looking stupid.

Hell Elektra before Black Panther, Antman, Wasp, Vision, Wonder Man, Black Knight, She-Hulk, Spider-woman, and etc... is a bad idea

They might get to Elektra in an Avengers movie some day, maybe like Avengers 12, but by then, this actress will be way to old.
