Kite Samuel L Jackson anime film

Samuel L. Jackson stars in Ralph Ziman's remake of Yasuomi Umetsu’s Japanese OVA, Kite. The live-action film stars nineteen-year-old India Eisley (Underworld: Awakening, Maleficent) as Sawa, sixty-four-year-old Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) as Karl Aker (Akai) and eighteen-year-old Callan McAuliffe (The Great Gatsby) as Oburi. If you've seen the original OVA, you know why the ages are important here. The project was very nearly shelved when David R. Ellis (Snakes On A Plane) passed away back in February but Ralph Ziman (Gangster's Paradise: Jerusalema ) quickly stepped in to keep the project moving.

"Kite, is a character-driven action film that charts the story of Sawa (Eisley), a young woman living in a failed state after the financial collapse, where a corrupt security force profits on the trafficking of young women. When Sawa's policeman father is killed, she vows to track the murderer down with the help of his ex-partner, Karl Aker (Jackson)."

Lots of manga and anime adaptations flying about the place. Hopefully one of them will hit big, inspiring a flurry of them, until a few really good ones start to come out and then WB has no other option but to do an AKIRA trilogy that stays faithful to the manga and has the advantage of a Lord of the Rings style production, in budget, scale and the time that is spent on it. These movies may even get so much respect that they give the film a Japanese, teenaged cast and employ the talents of Otomo Katsuhiro as the senior Production Designer.
But that will never happen.
What is more likely is that one of these films will be a success and WB will fasttrack the AKIRA project the way they were going to do it, as one movie, full of popcorn and older Americans in the lead roles.

India Eisley is HOT. And she is alredy 19. They must put all nudity scene from anime to live-action big screen! If "Kite" will be without nude India Eisley is will be bad movie... Boobs and Violence!

I rented Kite at Blockbuster a long time ago thinking it was just a normal anime. Then I realised it was a hentai edited up to be passed off as an Anime. The story is just too screwed up and all I have to say is Ewwwwwwww!

Now a Mezzo Forte movie I can aprove.

It's not marketable. Now if that 47 Ronin is successful things might change.

Glad someone brought up the fact that the REAL Kite has quite a bit of graphic sex scenes in it.

Besides...Kite has already been adapted live-action once already. It's called "Ex-Girlfriend" by the band No Doubt
