Michael Fassbender Assassin's Creed role

12 Years A Slave is hitting US theaters this Friday so Michael Fassbender is doing his part to promote the film. While speaking to The Daily Beast, Fassbender quickly touched on his upcoming Assassin's Creed feature film from Ubisoft Motion Pictures and 20th Century Fox. "That’s definitely happening," reassured Fassbender when asked about the status of the project. He continued, "We’re just developing the script at the moment. I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting—the idea of reliving memories." Perhaps the 'idea of reliving memories' is an indication that not only will Fassbender play present-day protagonist Desmond Miles but he'll also play Miles' ancestor, Altair from the first Assassin's Creed video game. And if the adaptation proves successful, might Fassbender also play Ezio and Connor in sequels? That would be quite a feat considering Altair is Syrian, Ezio is Italian and Connor is half-Indian. Not impossible by any means but it would definitely present a worthy challenge to Fassbender's considerable acting talents. Filming is scheduled to begin sometime next year for a June 19, 2015 release.

No, pick new assassin's for the movie. Different media should mean different assassins (and no Desmond).

For some reason I smiled when I read that he liked the idea of reliving memories.

It's almost as if he cares about a plot in a CBM.

The make-up in Cloud Atlas wasn't bad, but Halle Berry's was the most noticeable for sure (especially when she's in white-face, that made her look not even human because of all the prosthetics that they used. I don't think that this film will require too much make-up effects on Fassbender, but maybe alternate voice-actors would help mask the effect that he's playing different characters in different eras throughout. Either way, I can't wait to see this film. Fassbender's been on a roll with making not only good films, but great films at a consistent rate.

Have any of you guys ever thought that maybe he's playing a different character(s) all together and that this is an entirely original storyline set in the same universe?

I'd love it if they just went straight to Ezio.

I'm kinda curious... How will the story go because if we get the same story that we saw in the game then it might not be a big surprise knowing that most of the people that love assassins creed won't be introduced to anything new

Are we simply assuming that the movie won't branch out from the game series' narrative, or has there been evidence to suggest that they will focusing on Desmond?

I just got into the AC series four months ago. Michael Fassbender is a phenomenal actor. I think he could pull off Ezio and Connor.

I'm really excited for the AC movie! It has a lot of potential to be a game changer when it comes to video game movie adaptions.

@Nomis If Henry Cavill wasn't busy playing Superman, I would want him to take over as Bond after Daniel Craig leaves the role. I'm on board with Michael Fassbender as the next James Bond.

First Class reminded me of a James Bond movie, which he was great in.

@NapoleonDynamite: yep.

There is no way in hell they're not doing original material for this movie. It'll probably be whole other bloodline all together.

@SuperGuy83

The Halo movie was canned because Microsoft wanted too much creative control, and wouldn't let the studio/director make any creative decisions.

In my whole life I was not expecting anything as much as this film! But I am afraid that the writer of Wolverine will make a blunt blockbuster, with no philosophy and spirituality of history! If this film does will not give the depth of the history of the Assassins, their values and do will not show honor, do will not recreate the atmosphere of past centuries, the movie will be a disaster in terms of the expectations of the fans. Sorry for my English.. I used translater
