In addition to the new photos for
X-Men: Days of Future Past in November's issue of Entertainment Weekly, there's also some brief quotes and story hints from director Bryan Singer and some of the cast. The more spoilerish elements are hidden but you can highlight and read that bit at your own discretion.
You may recall seeing set photos that leaked earlier this year which showed an intense confrontation between Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and Hoult's Beast. "There's bad blood because of everything Erik's done to Charles. Obviously Hank is on Charles' side completely," says Nicholas Hoult.
While many an X-Men detractor decries Bryan Singer's disregard for the source material in past X-Men movies, he does occasionally pull a few things from the comic books. Said Singer, "Xavier's chair is a hover chair. That's something I wanted to do from the comic that I hadn't seen yet." Singer also describes the mindset of Bolivar Trask, played by Peter Dinklage. "He's actually kind of a peace lover. He sees the advent of the mutants as a way to unite people. There's this moment where he basically explains when modern men came along, it meant extinction for the Neanderthal; now humans are the Neanderthal, so this fight is for our survival as a species."
Spoiler:[
It's revealed that when Wolverine travels back in time, one of the first thing he and Professor X do is break Magneto out of jail. Central to Wolverine's mission is the need to stop Trask from creating the Sentinels and to stop Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique from doing something that Singer doesn't specify.]
"Wolverine basically plays the Charles Xavier role in this movie and I kind of play the Wolverine role," says James McAvoy on encountering a time traveling Hugh Jackman in the 70's. He promises surprises are in store for his character, dark ones that will eventually turn Professor X into the man first seen in 200's
X-Men.
