Dinah lance The CW Arrow

According to TV Guide, actress Alex Kingston is set to reprise her role as Dinah Drake in an upcoming season 2 episode of The CW's Arrow. Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim confirmed the news at a recent screening of Wednesday's episode, "The Scientist". Kingston will share scenes with Oliver (Stephen Amell) when she returns in the back half of season 2.

In DC comic book lore, Dinah Drake was the very first Black Canary before she passed the mantle on to the daughter she shared with a Detective [Quentin] Larry Lance.

The CW Arrow season 2

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

I take it there will be one big happy reunion. Then one of the family members will die. So it will end on a sad note.

Nomis, yeah. She even wears the baseball cap that Dinah saw in the photo back in season 1.

Also, remember her line? "I'll get to central city in a flash"

Much more adequate now ey.

I just want Laurel to die. Not the whole family, just her. Then Oliver can be with Sara and all will be well....as long as she changes her name to Dinah....maybe the mother should die too, I guess...

@beto
I don't think that'd be the way to go because unlike Sara: Laurel can't fight and is a very unlikeable character. It's better that Sara is Canary, trust me.

There's a good chance I'll ragequit the series when they get rid of Sara. By now Laurel is the only character I really dislike, losing Sara and being left with her would be cruel. :(

@monkeyballs
What I meant is that she can't fight like Sara, who trained for 5 years with the LoA. That adds even more to my point because Sara has a really cool backstory that ties in with Ollie and the island and Slade and Ra's Al Ghul while Laurel is an annoying character who's only fight skills come from Detective Lance(I assume). Maybe if Ollie or Sara trains her to become Canary, then it might work, but I personally don't want or see them going that route.

Bazinga - I get what your saying about Saras fighting ability over Laurel's and agree. But Im pretty certain they will have Laurel become Black canary at some point. That was practically a selling point for Katie Cassidy. so I think she would be pissed off if she didnt get to become Black Canary

Alex Kingston really REALLY should have kept her accent. She sounds like she's got a cold when she's trying to hide it.

Bah, before Doctor Who, she was Dr.Elizabeth Corday!
Anyway, @Nomis she wasn't right about it.
It's a coincidence that Sara survived, but Dinah's reasons for thinking so were not based on the correct reasons. She just happened to find a photo of a woman with a Starling City Rockets cap who resembled Sara and based her theories on that. The woman in that photo was proven to be someone else.
