More Impactful Cameos On The Way For AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.?

"Stay tuned, there's a plan," says Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb on more familiar Marvel characters appearing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in a similar capacity to the many DC Comics character appearances on Arrow.

Marvel Agents of SHIELD Taskmaster_Winter Soldier_Moon Knight

Jeph Loeb, Marvel Television's answer to Marvel Studio's Kevin Feige, spoke to the Huffington Post about current plans on the tv front. When asked specifically by the interviewer about whether Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would adapt the Arrow approach and start "minling] the Marvel Universe for character appearances", Loeb simply tease, "Stay tuned, there's a plan."

I highlight this answer because when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was first introduced, the prevailing school of thought from the showrunners was that it would be predominantly about the characters being introduced on the show. The "ordinary" people caught up in the growing wave of superheroics sweeping the globe. To that end, when Loeb, Tancharoen and [Jed] Whedon were asked about cameos they stated there would be a few, small appearances but nothing too drastic. Now, it's "Stay tuned, there's a plan." Perhaps, there's been a shift in policy and we'll start seeing S.H.I.E.L.D.'s roster being filled out with some more familiar names? We previously learned that two new recurring agents are set to join the show. And there was an earlier rumor that Taskmaster would appear on the show. One thing is sure, changes have to be made when the mid-season finale brings in the lowest ratings number thus far.

Loeb declined to comment on Marvel's Netflix deal concerning Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Daredevil. There's more from the interview at the source, including intel on Marvel's Animation endeavors.

Who would you like to see join Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Nobody's watching, so changes will have to be made. All the cool stuff, like the shorts, that made Coulson so watchable and humorous will have to return.

Taskmaster would be very cool , and could open the doors to characters like Deadpool , Moonknight . Dagger and Cloak would be awesome as well if we could see them .

Mockingbird could be a cool character too , and some cameos of characters that we will be seeing on netflix like Iron Fist , Luke Cage and especially Daredevil , have Bullseye in there . One character i feel could be introduced is the Sentry .

I mean there is a lot they can do but they really need to go the «Arrow» way because people want superheroes and see some characters appear .

I wanted to like this show. I quit watching at like the 4th episode. I might pick it back up after they come back but that's only if the word of mouth is good.

Maybe bring on real SHIELD Agents, like Mockingbird, Dum Dum Dugan or even Constrictor and Taskmaster as future villians...

I guess the numbers don't lie. I think ratings would pick up if they brought in S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from the comics, so they could fill out the original roster with some familiar faces.

I would like to see these characters appear:

-Clay Quartermain
-Daisy Johnson/Quake
-Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman
-Jimmy Woo

The concept behind this show was so incredibly stupid I wondered how Joss Whedon could have come up with it. No one gives a [frick] about everyday people in the MCU. The whole point of a comic superhero universe is to explore the lives of the actual heroes themselves. Had this series been about the normal lives of actual superheroes it would have been interesting from the perspective of exploring the dual identities that they face as civilians and in their alter egos. But this show is about made up agents in a fake agency with no grounding in real world politics or espionage whatsoever. It takes every weakness of the superhero, espionage, and political thriller genres and leaves out their strengths.

Ya I stopped setting an alarm for it after the second episode. I was really excited when I heard about it and all the previews heavily focused on the Avengers but it's just boring. I honestly prefer 5am Smallville reruns over the show. I was hoping that Mike guy would be like Luke Cage or something actually super.

The people who say that nobody is watching this show and wanting ABC to cancel it are [frick]ing morons. While the live ratings aren't the greatest, it's DVR viewership in Live +7 boosts it up to ABC's second-most watched show on the network. Also, people who stopped watching at episode four have no right to complain since it's improved steadily with every episode since then. Sure, the show has its flaws still but what television show is perfect out of the gates? Those saying that Arrow is so much better must forget how much everyone complained about the first season of that show too. It was just as forgettable as some of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s worst episodes have been and didn't hit any sort of stride until the end of the season. Even Joss Whedon's most popular show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, had a first season that was laughable quality-wise when compared to what the show became.

Breaking it down here, my point is that: 1) This show does have flaws that need to be addressed. 2) People are acting like these are the worst flaws committed in history by any television show... they aren't so just stop it. 3) People are watching this show and the ratings actually went up for the last two episodes before dipping in the fall finale. DVR viewership also makes it one of the network's highest rated shows, especially in the all-important adults 18034 demographic. 4) If everyone gave up on every show as quickly as people suggest they should here, we'd have no Arrow, Supernatural, Fringe, Community, Revolution, etc... and instead be left with tons of Fireflys instead. If you don't like a show, that's your own prerogative, but when giving reasons why you personally think it should be cancelled for some reason, don't go on talking out of your ass please.

Don't just pay attention to the ratings on the night it is on. It is up against NCIS, the #1 show on TV. And its ratings among key demographics are doubling when you factor in DVR & online watching. There was an article in TV Guide about it, which also said that it's those combined ratings (regular night + DVR/online) that networks and advertisers are looking at.

I object! The concept, although not the one I would have gone with, was a good one. Have normal people dealing with super powered events/heroes/villains. It would have been like a team of Coulson's and what he brought to the marvel movie verse. The wins? Toss away characters that could be used or lost and never offend anyone, and have individuals making up the strengths of Coulson (which they kinda do with the team they have.) The fail which is overwhelming, this set up gave way for an endless amount of cinematically questionable characters that they could have gambled with here. Bring them in and if people love them, give them reoccurring roles, and if they don't have the reaction hopped for right them right back off the show as going their separate ways. Would work for villains and heroes. Bring in she-hulk to join the team as guest members and fighting some gamma generic villain. I hate how they used centipede as alien/gamma/super soldier/whatever and none of the avengers or their cohorts are mad and want it stopped? Really?

If you want the show to succeed with fans of the comics its time to start mining the source material. You've taken half a season to establish your original characters now lets bring in some established mainstays.

- Jessica Drew is a brilliant idea, assuming that isn't Skye's real name (just a theory)

- Clay Quartermaine would be great, give him a few seasons on AoS and then have him become a regular on Jessica Jones' show.

- Take an episode and deal with the frost monster from Jotunheim already! After I saw the end credits scene I totally thought that would be the tie in episode.

- Sharon Carter aka Agent 13. No idea what the plans are (if any) for her in the cinematic universe, but having her show up for an episode or two would be pretty cool.

- if it isn't happening elsewhere already, have someone significantly villainous reform HYDRA. Centipede just isn't sending shivers down my spine, sorry.

This was the show that I was really looking forward to and I've been greatly disappointed after every episode. It reminds me of watching the Spider-Man or Hulk TV show of the 70's and 80's where they never fought villains just some bikers or mob bosses trying to take over some old man's farm. Every week you hoped that a big Villain or Hero would show up but you just got slapped in the face with disappointment like Joey Lawrence's Career (Whoooaaa!).
In order to keep this show on the air they need to step up their game. What's the point of having so many characters at your disposal and you don't even use them. You have a team of Shield Agents (that really aren't that interesting except for Coulson) who are supposed to be going after Super Powered threats. Well Super Power it up then. Throw MODOK up in there or the Leader (I'm sure Tim Blake Nelson
has an opening in his schedule). Let's see Thunderbolt Ross become Red Hulk or mention Abomination. Something please. This show is turning into the equivalent of getting socks on Christmas morning. Dress socks with the gold toe like your dad wears.
Hopefully Netflix will save Marvel Episodic career.

Problem with the show isn't cameos or bringing in more characters from the comics. Problem is the show isn't good. There were 3 good episodes in the middle, but the rest of it's been embarrassing -- and this is coming from a proud Marvelite! The mid-season finale was a joke. Awful. IMHO. I want the show to succeed. My brother convinced me to watch Arrow -- which, after the crap that was Smallville, I resisted. I finally started watching Arrow and it's miles better than AoS. It may be the best superhero TV show ever done. Again, I'm a Marvelite.

I would do is (1) fire the show runners, Jed and Marissa, and fire Jeff Loeb -- they don't seem to know how to run a show; (2) kill off a character or two: Agent May is a stone golem, she has 1 expression, and I don't care about her backstory - next time you have a character that's supposed to be a stone-cold bad-ass killer don't make it a 4'11" 50 year old!! Please. Or kill Skye -- WTF is her purpose again? She's looking for her mommy? Oh, boo-the-$#@!-hoo. She does internet searches! That's her role! Gimme a break. If that's what you need, get a pimple-faced teenager. Unless they have something in their back pocket that's mindblowing -- which I doubt -- off her. (and I say that with sadness because she is very easy on the eyes).

I'm supremely disappointed by AoS and only want it to succeed. I'll keep watching because I need my hit of crack, but Feige ought to watch a few episodes and after he's done vomiting, he might make the above changes.
