Quick Update On Rogue's Removal From X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Yes, director Bryan Singer recently revealed that Rogue's (Anna Paquin) only scene in X-Men: Days of Future past has been left on the cutting room floor. However, there's still a chance the Southern belle could make an appearance in the seventh X-Men film in the series.

Rogue X-Men Days of Future Past

HitFix reports that despite the recent reveal that Anna Paquin's Rogue was pushed out from X-Men: Days of Future Past in Bryan Singer's initial cut of the film, there's a chance the actress may actually still appear. Last November, a report surfaced that Days of Future Past was returning to Canada for reshoots [see HERE]. Singer quickly clarified that he and his crew were returning to Montreal for pick-ups (additional filming) not to film a scene over again [see HERE]. Well, HitFix now reports that actual reshoots are on the horizon for the seventh X-Men film and that there's a chance Rogue could be worked back into the film during those reshoots.

I'm leaning towards the notion that Rogue will have an appearance in the film. Keep in mind, Paquin appeared at Comic-Con with the full cast and was featured in the first trailer. It would be very strange for the Academy Award winning actress to suddenly find herself out of the film. Also, look back at some of your favorite superhero movies and think about the plethora of scenes that were shown in trailers and tv spots that weren't actually in the finished film. The director of the film didn't make a big announcement that those scenes were cut well BEFORE the film was released. Something smells fishy here.

But, she doesn't have any powers after X3, which is technically in the same canon as this film....strange or not, she doesn't belong in the finished product.

Cure doesn't work forever. Source was Lechh, who took off someone power only around him, not forever.
Rogue should have her power after 10+ years for sure.

Singer tried to make us all believe she only had one scene, but in fact we have already seen she appears on three different locations and scenes. Even the EW article said it was a sequence, so some sites are missing all the info.

Rogue was a wasted character in these movies. She was only there to flesh out Wolverine and be a plot device for the Magneto storyline.

I had really hoped she evolved into the "superwoman" of the comics, but they decided to skip ahead and make Jean the Phoenix instead, sorta. It's weird that they reduced Rogue to almost just a stand-in character after all her interaction with Logan, and Wolverine going on to be the tentpole character of the series. She could have been awesome with Logan their to anchor her. Instead they did the fast forward on Jean and made her super powerful and tried to anchor her with Logan, when it should have been Scott, whom they killed for no reason. Cyclops really go the shaft in this series, followed by Rogue.

I love how a lot of people always say that Rogue lost her powers in X3 so she shouldn't even be in the movie but then don't mention the fact that Magneto, who took four vials in the chest, is. I know a lot of people have pointed out that the end of X3 shows that the cure is temporary so I won't go there, my comment is more about how people remember that Rogue got the cure (off camera) but forget that Magneto got it (on camera).

"Exactly! They are cashing on the Jennifer aren't they? I still hate the big screen version of Mystique."

Yes, they are milking her good. And, I agree about Mystique characterization, but, there's only a handful of the movieverse X-Men that I do NOT feel that way about as it is.

Like Omega, McNygano, and a few others have said in the past, they aren't necessarily bad movies, but, they're hardly any good as CBMs.

I hope this is true and they will re-shoot!
The series began with Rogue and one of the finest elements of the movie trilogy was the Rogue/Wolverine relationship.

They're two isolated characters that have developed a sweet bond. I think it would be great to see that again in DOFP.

Plus. Hopefully Singer has learned from his mistakes with Rogue and the time gap since X3 have made her more feisty.

Anna Paquin in True Blood is how I picture Rogue.

CherryBomb - 12/21/2013, 9:34 AM
@Reeferinferno

Well, I think people are denying it. But James Marsden was spotted flying to the same place where DOFP was being filmed. It could be a coincidence or it could be a secret cameo like they tried to do with Rebecca Romijn in X-FC and Jean in Wolverine.

About Mystique.
I don't mind so much that they're pushing a spotlight on her.

She's up there as one of the oldest characters in the movies with Magneto, Charles and Wolverine. So it'd make sense that she'd have a past. She's also a very intelligent, manipulative woman who definitely shakes things up.

Yeah, but out of all the interesting female characters, that actually were X-Men, we get Mystique? Her whole story is more of being visually impacted by her mutation is really what Beast experienced.

I don't mind Rogue being cut if it's in the service of streamlining the story (like we were told about the cutting of MJ from TASM2).

I remember an old synopsis that said that something bad happened to Kitty while she was phasing Wolverine through time, and that the X-Men needed to get someone else who could use her power to get him to come back. That was Rogue and she was imprisoned, so they had to break her out. I assume she had more than just one scene, but the entire conflict with Kitty was deleted (let's be honest, it wouldn't add much to the story). So maybe the reshoots are to have Logan come back to Kitty next to him instead of Rogue.

Or maybe that synopsis was completely fake and I didn't hear.

I'm honestly more interested in Halle Berry getting reshoots than Rogue. However I am still interested in Rogue getting some screen time.

I hate when people call this movie a big cluster. From the looks of it Avengers 2 will be a cluster of heroes no one says nothin about that and also look at Lord of the Rings 50 million characters with all their different stories happening at the same time.
