FAN ART: Poor SPIDER-MAN, Excluded From The Marvel Cinematic Universe

"Poor Spidey" is a piece of fan-art created by Mauricio Abril. It captures the sad state of affairs in which Sony's Spider-Man can't be included in the Marvel cinematic universe. Come see Spidey dragged away as he watches The Avengers have all the fun.

"I suppose this is what happens when you cross fan art with social commentary. I came up with the idea for this gag illustration after watching “The Amazing Spiderman 2″ on opening weekend, but only just now got around to finishing it. It pretty much summarizes how I felt about the new franchise, the larger Marvel cinematic universe and the realities of binding contracts." - Mauricio Abril

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

I have a question: if Marvel Studios is using Spiderman in a Avengers Studios with knowing they will go on a trial, could they afford to do it (and when I say "afford" it's like the trial represents nothing them)

@Jollem

No the MCU doesn't need him to succeed... [frick] sake we know a sycophantic DC zealot like yourself hates Marvel but at least have your lame flame baiting attempts make sense.

Sony is in a financial crisis, giving up Spiderman would only help them in the short run. Spiderman might not be doing as good as he should domestically, but only a global scale it's doing pretty darn well right now. All the Spiderman movies combined grossed a whooping total of $4 billion (as of now), Sony would have to be pretty darn stupid to give away a cash cow like Spiderman.
