After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion — and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.

Grant Gustin as Dr. Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Detective West, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow & Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells.

Why do they call him 'Reverse Flash'?

I just found out about the character when that Flash animated film came out, but I thought Reverse Flash would mean he ran slow or backwards or something like some kind of Bizarro Flash.

Isn't he really just another speedster?

Also I think calling him 'Zoom' would probably work better.
There's nothing 'reverse' about him.

Thanks felixxx that was really important to me. Now I can go on with my life...

Another guy has been cast as Reverse Flash. Another detective that is more popular than Barry

I think this will draw in more viewers than Arrow even though it's more CW-ish.

Good question, @ Hump. The only reasoning I could ever come up with was the colors, maybe? And that he's "evil" instead of good. Still a kind of lame concept though.
Mothchild

He's reverse because he's running backwards through time

He's "Reverse Flash" because he's dyslexic.

He's called the Reverse Flash because his costume is the reverse color of the Flash's. Red became yellow. Yellow (lighting bolts) became red.

Show won't last long enough for a reverse flash story arc...

Wouldn't reverse flash = forward slow?
Luminus
Luminus - 6/13/2014, 2:11 AM
^You clearly see the Reverse Flash in the pilot. The show specifically has Barry talking about his mother's murder, which the Reverse Flash is responsible for.

Yes, it's because of the reverse costume color and being evil. The writers apparently didn't think of the reverse of Flash's power when they created the name. Maybe that's why later on they changed the name to Zoom.

On topic, where's the new footage? I thought we've seen it all in the trailer.

Showing Zoom during his mother's death removes all sense of ambiguity or mystery.

Rick costnett, the guy with a gun in the trailers, is doing Eddie thawne. And he's a man who has been back from the future and running backwards in time, so he's called reverse flash!

Klone, you ignorant slut!....the whole reason we HAVEN'T had a solo movie of Flash and Warners only felt safe doing a TV show is because fanboys alone can't carry shit. That's also why they rebooted Star Trek.

There will be so many people watching this show saying "What was that?"
Klone
Klone - 6/13/2014, 5:58 AM
Yes, I know that. What I mean is, the mystery behind if something really odd did happen the night his mother died or if his father did it and Barry is desperate is pretty much removed. Anyways, I know the whole WB thing doing a tv show over a film and why already... why the hell did you mention that?
KrazyForKomix
KrazyForKomix - 6/13/2014, 6:02 AM
@ Luminus

Sure, THAT'S the way it'll play out.
Because TV (and movies) are all about keeping it source accurate.
I hope it works out that way, but we as comic fans have absolutely no reason to think that will be the case. They may determine that TV and comics are different, so the reason for her death should be different.
Who knows what they'll come up with . . .
Klone
Klone - 6/13/2014, 6:03 AM
And I never said it was bad thing exactly, only that it does remove some ambiguity. I feel I had to say that or else certain users here would do their usual shit in response.

Much more to it than that? Perhaps time jumping? Flashpoint? Maybe? MAYBE?
