A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film climbs into theaters July 11, 2014

@LeroyJenkins

Koba is no better than that guy, really.
Koba actually represents the same resentments he has for the apes.
Except it's for humans.

If anything Koba will/should kill Caesar.

Koba has great reason to resent humans. They turned him into what he is. The humans are just blaming the apes for something they did. Yeah I have a feeling he will kill Caesar

@LeroyJenkins

Oh no doubt he has reasons. I'm sure the angry humans will have some too.

I'm just pointing out that he represents the distrustful negative member of the group on the Apes' side. Like Oldman's character, he's not necessarily down with peace or love either.

Heck, he may even be a major part of the catalyst that spawns the human internment camps we saw in the original film far into the future.

@Humperdink oh yeah I agree with you. I was just hoping he wouldn't go crazy rogue, like I'm assuming he does in this one. I was just hoping he'd do the dirty work, you always need a guy (or ape) like that haha

I don't think so. I think Koba (I thought it was Kobra) represents the evolution of prejudice in the apes. It's wrong to blame all humans for the behavior of a few. Just as some people blame all apes for the simian flu and the behavior of a few of them.

Hatred, fear and prejudice are wrong. It doesn't matter what justification you use for these feelings.

Is this going to be called "The Rise Of Koba"? If so, can we bring in the Rock for the next one?
