"I didn't do it for attention for myself. I did it for attention for the troops." - Amy Adams
Earlier today,
Amy Adams, star of
Man of Steel and
American Hustle, was on a flight from Detroit to Los Angeles. What made the flight special was that Oscar-nominated actress performed an act of kindness above and beyond the call of duty. She switched her first-class seat with a military serviceman who was supposed to be flying coach.
Jamele Hill, co-host of ESPN2's "Numbers Never Lie," was also a passenger on the flight and she witnessed the act of kindess. Here is her report:
"I noticed Ms. Adams was in first class and as I was getting seated, I saw the flight attendant guide the soldier to Ms. Adams' seat. She was no longer in it, but it was pretty clear that she'd given up her seat for him. I was incredibly impressed, and I'm not even sure if the soldier knew who gave him that seat. I guess he will now! Ms. Adams did it so quietly and quickly that it speaks to her character."
During the flight, Adams took time to meet with the soldier and thank him for his service. Anyone that knows Amy's real-life story shouldn't be too surprised as the actress was an army brat. She was born in Vicenza, Italy, because that is where her father (Richard) was stationed. Her father also: graduated from West Point, became an army avaitor, and even did some acting on the side, here and there.
