From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, with John C. Reilly, Glenn Close as Commander Rael and Benicio del Toro as The Collector. James Gunn is the director and the story is by Nicole Perlman and James Gunn, with screenplay by James Gunn. It releases in U.S. theaters on August 1, 2014.

@Gandhi yeah because a dead character can have full conversations with his son and help lois lane escape a ship though he was only programmed to give information about krypton.also Ra's/Liam Neeson doesn't die on screen until the end and is never brought back.

I know it's only concept art, but the gem Star-Lord is holding appears to be red. Did they change it during filming because of the Aether?

Avengers sucks. No plot.

Guardians, Iron Man 1 and Winter Soldier are brilliant. Everything else is sub-par

Yeah, I think Gunn explained that in a FB post or something. They just wanted to differentiate the two.

That Star Lord concept art! Wish they had went with it. I liked the movie costume, but the one in the concept art, IMO, is a hundred times better than the one in the movie.

@Gandhi: I was recently thinking about this. Marvel needs to stop with the fake deaths. It's tiresome.

Marvel haters are getting really creative with ways to discount what Marvel has done. DC fanboys were really counting on GOTG to fail but needless to say that kind of back fired. I get the feeling a few of them will be on suicide watch one it out grosses Man of Steel

So they were going to incorporate a more classic look for Starlord.
