Back in 2012, director Tim Miller shot some
Deadpool test footage to help convince 20th Century Fox that the character, tone and costume could work as a feature film. This was a pitch that was required after the character was unfavorably treated in Gavin Hood's
X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The footage finally found its way onto the internet just over a month ago and the reaction was extremely positive. Possibly giving the film a shot of being made one day. Now, the star Ryan Reynolds ("Green Latern"), who performed Deadpool's voice work and the motion-capture performance, comments on the reaction to the leaked footage.
"The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet. It's awe-inspiring, actually," Reynolds told the Niagara Falls Review. "And it's neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way."
