BOND 24 Theme To Come From The Voice Of Sam Smith?

Sources for the NY Post's Page Six are reporting, British soul singer Sam Smith has been selected to produce the theme song to the next James Bond film. They claim he was chosen over vocalist Lana Del Rey, and is currently negotiating with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli. A representative from Sam Smith said, "That is not confirmed."

If this news is true, Smith will have a hard time beating Adele's Skyfall theme, which went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Do you guys think Sam Smith is a good choice?

BOND 24 will be directed by Sam Mendes ("Skyfall"), from a screenplay written by John Logan. The cast will include: Daniel Craig as James Bond (007), Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Miss Moneypenny, and Ben Whishaw as Q. The film will be released in the UK and US on October 23, 2015 and November 6, 2015, respectively.

Before people freak out about it not being a woman, remember that some of the best bond themes were sung by men

Chris Cornell and Adele knocked it out of the park with their songs. I give Alicia Keys and Jack White credit for trying something radically different, but their song was just...not good. Fitting that it was attached to Quantum of Solace, which was also...not good.

I'm in favor of bringing in someone totally new, though. The themes really sets the tone for each movie, and each movie needs to feel different from the last. Which is why I'm a little hesitant about Mendes coming back. I LOVED Skyfall, but Bond is just one of those franchises that benefits from fresh perspectives.

Also he sounds like Adele...I want something different for the Bond theme...Lana has that old school jazz singer quality to her voice

Use Alice Coopers 'Man with the Golden Gun'. That was supposed to be a 007 song but 'Live and Let Die' beat it out.

Never heard of him. The only Bond song I really like is Live and Let Die, and I prefer the GNR version over the Wings original.
