Want An AUNT MAY Movie Without SPIDER-MAN? Sony Might Think You Do

Get your pitchforks and torches! Latino-Review reports that Sony is developing a film based on the early-life of 'Aunt May' before she became Peter Parker's caretaker. Yup, no Spider-Man, but we'll probably see Ben court May. Neat!

According to Da7e Gonzales of Latino-Review, film producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach plan to milk the Spider-Man universe for all its worth by creating a feature-lenth spy-thriler based on a young pre-Aunt May.

Yes, an Aunt May movie. A movie about Aunt May as a youth, before she was shouldered with the responsibility of raising Peter Parker. The target mood is some sort of espionage story in the vein of AMC’s Mad Men, which sounds like a way of saying “classier Agent Carter” without name-dropping Marvel’s upcoming series.

We know May Reilly Parker-Jameson as Aunt May, the sweet elderly woman that took care of Peter Parker after the death of her brother-in-law Richard Parker and his wife Mary. In 2003, Mark Miller wrote Marvel Comics' Trouble, which was a five-issue mini-series that presented an alternate past for May, Mary, Ben and Richard. The big twist, Richard was seeing May on the side and knocked her up. Thus, making May the biological mother of Peter. It was not well received by fans.

Just remember, this is reportedly from Avi Arad, the man who gave New Line the okay on an Iron Man script that had a toaster dress Tony Stark in his superhero armor. If Avi can greenlight that, he could greenlight this.

Thanks to the heads up from Jeremy Flores

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn.

You have got to be joking. First angry blogger Doom, now secret agent Aunt May? Is this a joke? When did this become the darkest timeline? They do realize they run the risk of running CBMs into the ground with this kind of nonsense, right?

What's next; Hank Pym murdered Janet in the backstory for Ant-Man? Bruce's parents never died, they just didn't support his dreams to become a real-life Zorro? An Alfred Pennyworth spin-off? Luke and Leia have inbred kids in Episode VII? C'mon, just keep it coming.

@JamesMan You do realize that Latino Review has gotten so much Marvel shit right. Agent Carter in ANT-Man, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther since 2013, etc

Da7e from Latino Review rarely breaks stories and is well-connected in the industry as a writer/producer on some MTV shows,
