Christopher Nolan's Interstellar was expected to bring in $50M to $60M this past weekend at the North American box office, bit it fell short of those estimates. It ended up grossing $46.7M; finishing second to Disney's Big Hero 6. Internationally, the film pulled in $83M, which may seem good at a first glance but when you add in the fact that it opened in 63 territories that total isn't very impressive. As an example, Guardians of the Galaxy debuted internationally with $66.4M in 32 territories and Captain America: The Winter Soldier grossed $75.2M from 27 territories.
Official Synopsis - The adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.
.
INTERSTELLAR - Directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan (“Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy), a script based on the combination of an original idea by Nolan and an existing script by Jonathan Nolan. The cast includes: Matthew McConaughey (“Magic Mike”), Anne Hathaway (“Les Miserables”), Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Bill Irwin (“Rachel Getting Married”), John Lithgow (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Casey Affleck (“Gone Baby Gone”), David Gyasi (“Cloud Atlas”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Mackenzie Foy (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 and 2”) Timothée Chalamet (TV’s “Homeland”), Topher Grace (“Spider-Man 3”), David Oyelowo (“Jack Reacher”), Ellen Burstyn (“The Exorcist”), and Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”.The film will be released in IMAX® and 35mm theaters on November 7, 2014.

That's good sci-fi right there!

The film was very good. One of the rare films you can actually go see multiple times because you likely won't grasp the concept in its entirety after one single viewing.
I've been thinking about getting me a TARS of my own... :)

Interstellar has great chances of becoming a classic 20 years from now.

Basically Nolan peaked at Inception and has been in a downward spiral since. It's an OK film, but it needs a good editor.

Could have been much better.

The spacesuits kind of reminded me of the stormtrooper chest armor

How can he peak at Inception?? That's not even his best film.

Great film...To be honest I didn't find the plot/story difficult to understand. Everything is pretty much explained in the film...down to the "worm hole in layman's terms" scene straight out of Event Horizon.

It had some flaws, but most definitely my favorite film this year.

I'll suffer the wrath of Nolites but... why so many news dedicated to Interstellar, is it really a comic book movie ?

Star Wars isn't a comic book movie, Star Trek isn't a comic book movie, Jurassic World isn't a comic book movie, Secret Service isn't a comic book movie, the Bond movies aren't comic book movies (well, technically...), etc etc etc.

If you're only finding out now that CBM.com doesn't deal exclusively with comic book movies...well, I don't know what to tell you haha.

Star wars has comic books, hell, even The Shield was made into a comic book. The Nolan worshipping could get a little rest for this one...

@CapA Because love or hate Interstellar, people can't help but talk about it. Its that kind of movie.

@CapA Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the definition of a "comic book movie" is if it's a movie that is based on comic books...not if comic books were made based on the movie after it comes out. That's completely irrelevant.

So again, the name of this site is "Comicbookmovie.com". You're assuming that it only focuses on comic book movies...but it doesn't. It never has. Comic book movies make up a HUGE part of this site, but that's not the only thing it covers. Heck, it even covers TV SHOWS like Game of Thrones (not a comic book movie).

Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Star Wars, Star Trek, Jurassic World, The Hunger Games, the James Bond movies, The Hobbit movies, and yes, Interstellar...seriously, the list of non-cbms that CBM.com covers goes on and on and on.

At least Interstellar has an obvious comic book movie connection with Nolan directing. That's more than you can say for The Hobbit. Or Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Or James Bond. Or literally ANY other non-cbm film that this site covers. So no offense, but your complaint here is just a bit off-base, IMO.
