PROMETHEUS 2 Will Have A New Alien

PROMETHEUS 2 Will Have A New Alien

We may not be seeing the Xenomorphs any time soon, but in a recent interview, director Ridley Scott ("Blade Runner") revealed plans to include a "fresher form of alien" in the Prometheus sequel. Hit the jump to check it out.

In Prometheus, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) became "pregnant" with an alien creature. She had it removed with the do-it-yourself surgery pod. That's when we see it's a slimy creature with tentacles. Later on when the Engineer attacks Shaw, her alien infant leaps upon the Engineer, rescuing her. During the alien-on-alien battle Shaw's alien smothers the Engineer's face. When the camera pulls back we see Shaw's alien is actually a large Face Hugger. The final shot in the film is of the Engineer's chest bursting open and a Xenomorph-like creature emerging. Director Ridley Scott acknowledged to The Australian that the final creature is “awfully close to the alien” from 1979's Alien.

If you're hoping the Prometheus sequel will bring something new to the table, when it comes to aliens, you're in luck. Scott said, "So with Prometheus 2 what I’m trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act.

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron
Director: Ridley Scott * Writers: Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof

While I didn't love Prometheus, I thought parts of it were great. That being said, I'm looking forward to the sequel because it seemed like the first film was one big teaser for the second.

I liked Prometheus but the movie made little to no sense. So many people thought that the alien at the end of the movie was the original xenomorph which it isn't. It was just a pointless fan service that confused people. Prometheus 2 better explain some of the shit in prometheus - especially the black goo

Prometheus had so much potential, the first 75% of the movie was so good, and the last 25% just ruined it.

I still have doubts that Prometheus 2 will ever actually happen. I wouldn't be shocked if Fox ended up trying to start a 'shared universe' initiative for their Predator and Alien properties.

"a fresher form of alien in the third act.”\

That line does not sit well with me the xenomorph is one of the greatest aliens in fiction it doesn't need a "fresher form". I think Ridley Scott needs to stop the xenomorph does not need a "fresher form".

I loved Prometheus! I highly suggest people watch the Directors Cut. Somethings will still piss you off but there is at least 10-15% more clarification on certain questions people wondered about. I'm just trying to figure out how Fassbender will balance out both this and X-Men: Apocalypse. Hope scheduling goes terrific for him...

Watched Prometheus again last night. Apart from some of the idiotic decisions made by the characters (which really wasn't a big deal), I don't get the hate for this. Heaven forbid if you actually have to FIGURE SOMETHING OUT AND NOT HAVE ALL THE EXPLANATIONS SPOON-FED TO YOU!!!

Low quality but it's the only deleted scene I could find...

I think it's good to note that the Engineer never killed ANY of the "Humans" within the film. The only thing that he honestly kills (or assumes he kills) is David. He saw David as a mockery of what they originally created the Humans for. He hated the image of Humans trying to play the role of God. Watch the scene again when Weyland claims to the Engineer that they are alike. That's what set the tone of him getting pissed off. I don't even think he was trying to kill Shaw in this clip...

@MrNiklander

Perhaps they are, but they're still teasing the area of where the next film is going in the franchise. Some of these values and characteristics that the Engineer had in these scenes speaks volumes of how all of the original inhabitants will possibly csrry themselves in this "Paradise" setting he speaks about within those scenes...

@TheRationalNerd

Damn!

That ending would have actually helped the film out a lot.

The way they did it just didn't really work for me but at least this one gives us a little more motivation for why Shaw decided to go to the planet of the giant sociopathic Gods who could actually still wipe out earth if they wanted to.

It wouldn't have made the film perfect or anything, it still had some issues, but it was a better sense of closure.
