Some of my favorite moments from Peter Jackson's The Lord Of The Rings trilogy were the epic battle sequences. I'm sure most people feel that way. The Hobbit trilogy hasn't really dipped its toes into anything of that scale ... until now. The Hobbit: The Battle Of Five Armies will see the rise of dark lord Sauron as he leads his army of Orcs into battle against Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and his army of good. Below, is an action-packed sneak peek from the film. It'll leave you wanting more.

From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,” the third in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world. Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honor to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

I really hate the filter they've used.

Is that from the video game? Serious question...

Why does this look worse than the Lord of the Rings?

This looks like a cheap video game cinematic from 10 years ago!

After being underwhelmed by AUJ I had two wishes/demands for the following movies, and it genuinely feels like many people worked very hard on disappointing me about these things.

On a positive note though: I have come to really appreciate AUJ after making it through DoS.

Wow, that was insanely boring. I know I'll sound like a 'hater', but I really try to love Jackson.

It might be because we've already seen these battle sequences done to death in the LOTR trilogy, so it has a 'more of the same' feel. In addition, the level of unnecessary bloat in the two previous Hobbit movies makes it hard to stomach the bloat to come...

Have to say...I'm not really seeing these movies as being individually distinct at this point.

It's just another bunch of massive marching armies fighting all over again. These films just feel like they're one long, endless, boring, fight scene.

They really seem to have managed to make three [frick]ing movies and precisely more less cut out the one thing I wanted to see on the big screen since I was a kid. But hey, instead we get more proof that Legolas's over the top antics in LotR were simply evidence of him getting old.

Ok come on, I think I can safelly say that that looks underwhelming, without coming off as a "hater". That filter just doesn't work, there is no battle noise, and it trully looks boring I'm afraid :/

Jackson surely ain't used the SHIT filter!

Tolkien would puke, then stab Jackson. Then he'd go after Pippa Boyens.

It doesnt honestly feel like a battle, its so silent. As for the look of things it seems really dull and nonsensical due to the filter combined with the smoke, its created a blur effect that makes most the armies indistinguishable.
