Would you like to know how Weta Digital was able to make those computer-generated apes in 20th Century Fox's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes looks so darn good? Well, just click on the video below to see all the advancemed technology that was utilized to render them apes.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30).

I liked the film but I didn't thought it was great. The VFX indeed looked stunning and I hope they'll either go with the Arri 6.5K for the sequel and/or use the digital-IMAX camera's. They'd really push the VFX further with that. However I still think Interstellar should be the one to win the Oscar for Best VFX, there wasn't a single shot in which the effects looked off. They were really renewing with their renderings, scientifically as accurate as possible, of the wormhole and Gargantua. Not to forget one of the best CG water effects I've ever seen at Miller's Planet and that amazing Cooper Station.
