Legendary Pictures shutdown production on Alex Proyas' Paradise Lost in February of 2012 due to budgetary concerns. Proyas was going to bring John Milton's 17th century poem of the same name to the big screen. Proyas was planning to use advanced visual effects technology that would've forced the budget to balloon. Legendary tried to bring the budget down to $120 million to make it work, but it couldn't be done. There were going to be some amazing aerial battles between the angels and the demons. That is where most of the budget issues stemmed from.

The cast included: Bradley Cooper as Lucifer, Benjamin Walker as the archangel Michael, Casey Affleck as Gabriel, Diego Boneta as Adam, Camilla Belle as Eve and Dijmon Hounsou as Abdiel the Angel of Death.

Cool visuals. Great to see something different than the usual "horned hairy monster".

Still, the Christian version of these tales is so....uncool. No offence to my Christian Buddies, but the world has already been inundated with your version of "fallen angels" and Lucifer acting like a cry-baby.
Maybe it's time to explore what Judaism or Islam say about this. It certainly sounds more interesting because i know the jinn Iblees (aka Satan) is an actual arrogant douche.

@GetsuaTensho22 This story didnt come from the bible it would have been adapted from the epic poem by John Milton and its told from Satans perspective.

They shouldnt make satan a sympathetic character. He is supposed to be the most extreme evil, vile, disgusting, traitorous being in the universe. Like Hitler would look like strawberry shortcake or Santa Claus next to him.

This movie needs to happen and it would a shame id Proyas doesnt getnto do it. Just make it 100% computer animated. The movie was gonna be 80-90% CGI anyway, so just ignore "realism" altogether and take a more stylized (and cheaper) approach. They could still use big name actors' images with mo-cap but save hundreds of animators' workhours. Remember that movie Renaissance with Daniel Craig? Something like that.

Im sorry but everyone here talking about how satan should not be the main character or sympathetic are A. Uneducated in literary works and/or B. Ignorant. Lets start with B. You do not decide what someone's iteration of a concept is just because you were taught to think different. THIS is a different perspective on an old tale.
Now lets go with A. THIS IS A VISUAL INTERPRETATION OF JOHN MILTONS POEM "PARADISE LOST" FROM WHICH IT GETS ITS TITLE AND STORY. ALTHOUGH THE POEM HAD INSPIRATION FROM THE BIBLE IT IS TOLD IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF LUCIFER. GOT IT? It's A great literary work that is taught in college. And btw, Lucifer never started out evil. He was called as gods favorite angel on standing possibly greater than Michael.that's from the holy books. I'm sorry I'm a big stickler for dealing with people who say what shouldn't and should be but have no knowledge of the literary pieces that are the actual inspiration for alot of these movies. People need to read more.
