Is Skyfall Director Sam Mendes Planning to Pay Homage to Indiana Jones?

According to The Sun the new James Bond film, starring Daniel Craig, will include a scene that is meant to resemble a key moment in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Director Sam Mendes will pay homage to the Indiana Jones rope bridge battles. 007 will have it out with a villain on a rickety affair like in Temple Of Doom. - The Sun

Well The Sun isn't exactly the New York Times, but even a broken clock is right twice a day, so you never know. They don't even report that this information came from a quote or a source, they just state it as fact so I'm not sure what to tell you.

As for the possible scene being remade, I would be extremely happy to see Sam Mendes do his own version. It was the highlight of the Temple of Doom, which was the second Indy film in the franchise, and to many is the third best of the four.

A fun fact about the bridge used in the Temple of Doom is that the bridge actually was suspended a couple hundred feet off the ground. This caused a problem for the director Steven Speilberg who suffers from a fear of heights. He would never walk on the bridge, and when he needed to film scenes on the other side of the bridge he would drive out of the way in order to get to the other side. However, Harrison Ford enjoyed it, and would run up and down the bridge during takes.

Skyfall, Craig's third outing as James Bond will be released on October 26, 2012. Daniel Craig will be joined by Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, as well as a Judi Dench as M.

Don't think it's right to copy an entire climatic scene. I'd prefer a small scene like a guy comes at James with a blade of some, sort so James just pulls out a gun and shoots him...or not bother at all? Plus unlikely coming from The Sun as you already pointed out...

Nobody said they were copying the entire sequence.Only that there's an action scene that takes place on a rope bridge as in Indie. As a homage.'Homage' does not translate as rip off shot for shot.

Spielberg was originally going to try for a Bond movie but Lucas said he had a better idea. This was also part of the reason Connery was Indy's dad, as a kind of tribute to Bond being the "father" of Indy.
