Gary Oldman Discusses Bane's Voice & Thinks the Golden Globes Are Rigged

Uh-oh Commissioner Gordon might have to call in Batman to sort out the Golden Globes, as actor Gary Oldman thinks something fishy is going on. He also discusses the controversy over Tom Hardy's voice in The Dark Knight Rises

Across the pond this evening Gary Oldman won Best Actor for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy at the Jameson Empire Awards in London. After receiving his award he was whisked over to the press room to field questions. That is when he gave a very candid interview, declaring that the Golden Globes are "bent." He also believes the Harry Potter franchise should've been honored this year at the Oscars and the BAFTAs.

Russ from Red Carpet TV News also asked about the ‘problems’ with the Bane (played by Tom Hardy) in Christopher Nolan’s third batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. He wasn’t aware of the issues and thought that all should be fine with Nolan at the helm. he describes the movie as ‘epic’ but not just ‘spectacle’. He then talks about how he looks after his scripts.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

He is a great actor, and he should have won more for the performances he has put in. I think the dust is starting to settle on the whole Bane voice saga, which again is one of those things where the internet proves to be a bad thing where many complained about it without seeing it just because they read it online. The trailer was very easy to understand, I think people will jump on the bandwagon, but it wasn't harder or easier than someone like Vadar to understand.

Oldman is a brilliant actor. Everything in Hollyweird is about politics. Just speaking out like this costs people future work - he knows this - yet said it anyway. Maximum Brownie-points.

Of course the Golden Globes are rigged. How the hell does the Tourist get nominated for three of them. It has long been known that The Golden Globes tend to nominate the bigger stars despite the fact if the film or their performance is worthy.

@Knightrider goes to show you why I hate when people try to pick apart every single negative detail before seeing the film.

The Golden Globes do tend to seem rigged. Especially when Meryl Streep won, your movie is being critically panned and yet you receive an Oscar. She is a great actress and all but I would have rather seen Rooney Mara or Viola Davis win.

And yeah Gary Oldmam is seriously underrated, he is the reason why I even saw that RedRidding Hood bullshit.

He seems to have difficulties with interviews. Some actors do, this always surprises me.

Absolutely brilliant actor though.

I can't honestly think of any memorable movie he's done where his performance was all that. Sure he's been in a lot of good movies, but performance wise, I'm at ends. "Air Force One" was good and "Fith Element" was great. But the Harry Potter and Batman movies were all suporting jobs. I haven't seen Tinker Tailor yet, but I've heard food things. I watched the first minute or so of the interview and he tried to skirt around the question to not come off like an @sshole, which IMO, makes him kinda douchey.

I really didn't enjoy Dracula. True Romance was a great movie, but Dennis Hopper was the fn man in that with Walken. I'm not saying hes a bad actor. I've liked his performances mostly. Complaining that something isn't fair because you didn't win when you and everybody else knows you should've, IMO, is kinda crybaby.

Rodimus9... I've quite happily followed this site as a viewer for many months... you were SO wrong about Mr Oldman, that I created an account just to call you WRONG! (The Firm, Dracula, Sid & Nancy, True Romance, JFK, Hannibal, LEON!!!???) Watch some movies dude!

Oldman is the 2nd greatest actor alive after Daniel Day-Lewis. Anyone who can not see his talent is a moron.
