UPDATE: RUMOR: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Run Time

Variety's Stuart Oldhman has sources that are reporting a run time on Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. It's not four hours long, but could it be three hours long?

Hey, remember that time when that knucklehead writer on comicbookmovie.com (pointing at myself) mistakenly thought a four hour run time comment by an MTV writer was serious, and not the poor comedic joke that it was? No? Good, cause I've forgotten about that too.

UPDATE: CBM's own CPBuff22 came across an interesting find and did some digging as well. On the Celebration Cinema's The Dark Knight Rises page they list the movie as having a run time of 130 Minutes. Ah, but there is more:
"Well I called the Celebration! Cinema offices and they say that they have been informed of the 2:16 time(includes credits). Its fairly crucial info for them as they try to plan out an IMAX schedule being that there will be a couple movies playing in IMAX at the time and the need to optimize the use of the one screen." - CPBuff22

UPDATE #2: Okay, thank goodness I got that "Rumor" tag in front of the article. Celebration! Cinema has contacted me to tell me that their listed run time of 130 minutes is just a guess.

Christian Bale's final Batman film is just over 2 hours long? I'm surprised. I really thought we were looking at something on the lines of two and half, or even possibly three hours to be honest with you. Maybe Bane and Catwoman won't need that much time to flesh out.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

Just over 2 hours? Is that 2:05? 2:15? 2:30?

Wow, if this is true, then it's probably not that much longer than The Avengers. I was expecting it would be longer. But hey, I'm sure Nolan knows what he's doing, so I'm not worried.

Nailbiter is allowed to have 1 mistake per 28 days cycle...I hope it's alittle longer than 2 hours

I feel like this is actually good news for me.

I would like it to be a touch shorter than The Dark Knight. I felt the length of that one.

around the same time of Begins would be alright.

After some thinking, I don't know if this is true. It's only the end of March, and the film comes out in July. I don't think Nolan is done editing the thing just yet, so there's really no telling what the runtime will be.

It will probably be over 2 & 1/2 hours. I don't see this being around the 2 hour mark.

Anything over 2 hours is good. If it was shorter than 120 minutes, then it would be a little bit weird. This... Just fine.

You know those rumors you look back on and say, "Wow, that was totally false". Well, this is one of them.
With the Grand story being told in TDKR, 2 hours is just not enough.

Nolan won't be done editing this until July, so nobody will truly know until then. He didn't finish editing The Dark Knight until two weeks before its release.

Bullshit! Why would u even post this? His last 3 movies have been well over 2 hours and you think he is going to skimp on the end of his "money maker" trilogy? Especially when he has catwoman and bane to flesh out. Can't believe I even read that. Can I have those 2 seconds back :)

no way this is correct. it will be at least 2:20

Claiming "just over two hours" is playing pretty safe.

I think the maximum limit for IMAX prints are like 160 or 170 min, so dont expect it to be longer than that
CPBuff22
CPBuff22 - 3/27/2012, 7:39 PM
It will be a total run time of 2:16 according to Celebration! Cinema.

I don't buy it. You have two villains. Plus an 8 year gap since the last story. No way. 2 hrs 35 minutes is my guess.

Well I called the Celebration! Cinema offices and they say that they have been informed of the 2:16 time(includes credits).
