New Official DARK SHADOWS Still Of Johnny Depp & Another Possible Early Review
Check out this new image of Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows. Also, another potential review of the film insists that it isn't a broad comedy.
Hollywood Elsewhere has just posted a review from a friend who has seen most of the film. And from what he has seen he describes the film as being a "gothic romance" that has Beetlejuice elements, but is much more like Burton's Sweeney Todd. Also, there was high praise for Michelle Pfeiffer's turn as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, calling her performance, "her strongest work in years."
"Johnny Depp's Barnabas Collins has a bit of a Chauncey Gardner quality as a fish out of water, and there are even elements of H.G. Wells from Time After Time as far as a cultured character trying to fit into a drastically changed society. The anachronism-based humor does work quite well. The film is funny, but it also has full-bodied horror elements. Barnabas does kill people in this and when he engages on a full-out war against Angelique (Eva Green), the evil witch who cursed him, they're playing for keeps and it's a bloody battle." - Hollywood Elsewhere
