MAN OF STEEL Prop Reveals Mysterious Contamination In Metropolis Area

Movie props for the new Superman movie indicate that citizens in the Metropolis area are showing symptoms of poisoning from a mysterious contaminant. Also, set decorations for the Kent farm, and Lois Lane's apartment.

On March 31st an auction was held for Man of Steel set decorations, props, and wardrobe. One of the more intriguing pieces is a board containing notes and articles written by Lois Lane.

First up Lois Lane's noticeboard which has a couple of Daily Planet stories on it attributed to her that are about a poisoning of the Metropolis area by an unknown contamination. There were notes and a plane ticket etc on the board too. Very cool.

When I think Superman and contamination the first thing that pops into my head is the sub-plot from the television show Smallville.
In Smallville, high levels of green Kryptonite radiation can cause normal Humans to mutate and acquire superhuman abilities (these mutants are usually called "meteor freaks"), although an outside catalyst (such as a strong electrical charge or a meteor shower) is usually required. - Wikipedia

We know director Zack Snyder will have a few characters that were in the Smallville series making an appearance in his new movie, but would he borrow the kryptonite contamination plot? Probably not, I wouldn't expect any Metahumans, but I also wouldn't be surprised if a meteor shower of kryptonite was the cause of the poisoning. Just this time there won't be any cool super powers to go with the toxic exposure.

The biggest twist is that this is a huge misdirect for WB and they're actually making a Captain Planet movie.

Whats with the Zod hate?

You'd all rather get Lex for the millionth time?

This is a new origin story and Doomsday can come in in the last part. It makes perfect sense.

So kryptonite in MOS will have similar properties to kryptonite on Smallville? That's interesting.

I wonder if they are trying to set up a villain for the sequel?

I want to like this movie...I really, really do (esp. since I called Zack Snyder as director of a reboot when RETURNS flopped)...but I've not heard even one piece of news about the story that's excited me...or interested me even.

I do like the casting however...save for Adams. Who seems completely wrong for Lois.

with this tidbit of info I could see Kenny Braverman/Conduit (who is sorely underrated as a villain IMO) from the 90's comics being a possible villain or antagonist of some sort since he was affected by kryptonite poisoning when he was born because the rocket and shards of kryptonite passed over the car he was born in because his parents couldnt make it to the hospital.

@thewolfx actually I believe the worst looking Lois Lane was Margot Kidder, every Lois Lane since then have been way easier on the eyes
