POLL RESULTS: Did Batman Fans Love THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Newest Trailer?

POLL RESULTS: Did Batman Fans Love THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Newest Trailer?

Now that we have all seen the new theatrical trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, here are the results of the poll I posted along with the trailer.

Feature Opinion

Over eleven thousand of you voted which is a whopping turnout. Of that number, nearly 73% found the new trailer to be awesome. The next highest tally was for very good, with nearly 18% of the vote. Clearly the overall reaction was extremely positive, and a 9% minority either thought trailer #3 was so-so, less than average, or downright poopy.

What did I like? Bane's voice. There was a huge improvement made to the sound quality of Bane's voice. It was much clearer, I understood everything that he said. That is a huge relief because I honestly struggled to understand much of what he was saying during the prologue.

Secondly, I was extremely happy to see Anne Hathaway all suited up in her Catwoman costume, and kicking some major ass. Outside of the sizzle reel we hadn't had a proper look at Hathaway's Catwoman. The third positive for me was seeing Batman's new flying vehicle soaring over Gotham, and doing a barrel-roll was simply outstanding.

Any negatives? Yes. I wish I could say it was perfect, but it wasn't. There is a very odd fight sequence between Bane and Batman in which both combatants are throwing some wild haymakers. These are not the type of punches you would expect from two well-trained individuals. The goofiness peaked when at one point Bane twirls like a ballerina and fires off a punch in midair. This left me scratching my head and wondering if I was perhaps watching a remake of West Side Story.

That was the only real beef that I had with the trailer, and it didn't keep me from enjoying the overall product. My vote? Awesome!

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

I agree exactly, the haymakers they throw are ridiculous, batman looks absolutely too slow and it looks way too choreographed. Actually alot like bits of the Hong Kong fight Scene in TDK (some people know what Im talkin about) a little too slow. but still looks cool.

I've never been so excited for a film in my entire life so far.

Not to troll, but I thought it was 'just okay'. Nothing about it screamed 'epic', though that's my opinion. This summer is going to rock with all these CBM's.

@nailbiter111-I'm sorry but your review sucks. All you talk about is the action. How about the scene when Alfred tells Bruce that he does not want to see him dead or the dramatic scene in which Batman explains to catwoman that he has not given his all to Gotham.

Haha always impossible to please everyone. Feel like the fights are filmed in a much different way then they were in the first two films. The first two films fights were much more about the precise nature of batman in the dark while this trailer emphasized the grand scale of the fights which along with it comes some exaggerated fight scenes. For the first time in a long time we are finally getting a sense of a story that is ending within the trilogy. In way to many movies like Spiderman and X-men there was this open endedness in the 3rd film that often times forgets to show the development of the character in the years and how society views them because the series often times didn't see the point to return to this after these themes were answered in the first 2 films. Nolan though really meant it that these 3 movies play as a full story. If TDKR ends up being as good as was watching this trailer, this series earns a spot next to the original star wars series and LOTR as the finest example of story telling in blockbuster movies. Especially since the threats in all 3 movies offered something very different from the last giving us a reason as to why Batman is challenged.

when i saw the action sequence of bane twirling i thought it was pretty good. He was dodging batman and seeing if he can try and get him with a right hook. Bane missed but the fight isn't stopping there. It's going to be on and poppin babayyyyy!!

The part where Bane jumps and punches Batman is actually one of my favorite parts...but whatever..

@Nailbiter
Its so obvious, u complain that they are punching wildly and it should'ent be that way from two such expert fighters, but just from looking at the two gifs u posted up above in your article you could see the answer.

Batman is punching wildly obviously beat down at that point and probably half dead and just punching wildly, as for Bane its a victory punch so to say, like hes just showing off and playing around, so he jumps up while punching down, if you'v ever watched a fight where one dude is cocky he does that kinda stuff.

And all this makes sense if you'v ever read THE Bane story, Knightfall, where Bane wears out Batman so that when they finally do meet face to face batman is already half dead and that's how he breaks the bat.

So that clears up your issues with that one.

I thought that punch was awesome. I did some martial arts training and they look like trained fighters trying to kick each other's ass.

@fastestmanalive so why did he fight like that in the other two films lol....nolan needs to fire the fight choreographer but its probably his sisters retarded nephew and she would be like so pissed

it reads like a chris nolan trailer more than a batman trailer. all the gifs look dumb...er, even more dumb when you have a chance to really look at them. The the story, the acting are fine but why can't they get a better fight choreographer? It's the third movie fr'chrissakes...you'd think somebody would have told them the fighting sucks. And also...the Bat!!!! lmao

Roscoe182 - 5/1/2012, 11:27 PM
@Scooby so have i and they really do not look like they are trained at all .. i agree with the comment above sack the fight choreographer . as big a batman fan i am, those punches just look stupid. the way bane jumps and punches you would get no power in it at all he may aswell throw a jab it would do more damage.

Yeah, the bane punch: He was dodging Batman's swing and began moving to his left, turning around. That's when it cut to the frame of him doing his punch.

tae kwon do and a very small amount of jiu jitsu. im not claiming to be an expert but that punch would do nothing.

as iv said i cant wait for the film bt the trailer was disappointing.

tae kwon doo doo, ju jitsu is alright. I'm a blue belt in karate and i also did some kung fu. My cousin teaches kung fu - and i've seen a lot of trained fighters fight. depending on what happened previously - that punch seems perfectly probable and can do a lot of damage. and tae kwon do isn't doo doo - i just think it's lame.

@Roscoe true, he wouldn't get as much power, BUT with his force and gravity (his descent from jumping) he would have a little power behind it. He didn't swing while jumping, he began swinging as he was coming back down.

I guess we'll have to wait to see how the fights look when cut together. That being said, if you look at the fist fights in BB and TDK even slowed down just a little it is REALLY obvious that no one is landing punches. Nolan isn't really good at filming action. But with a good editor it can still look like a brutal fight.

When the trailer was first posted on here someone said there was no footage of Marion Cotillard...well look again. Guess who Bale is kissing in the trailer near the end where he's all wet. And I'm getting pretty sick and frickin tired of all you haters on here. Every time I come on here to read up on the Batman movies I scroll down to these forums and I see you bunch of frickin trollers who don't like what you're seeing. Well then if you guys hate Nolan's Batman movies than move on to another site and stop trolling on here. If you're a Marvel fan, fine, so am I. Can't wait to see Avengers, but at least wait until this movie comes out before you bash the hell out of it just from a 2 1/2 minute trailer. We still have no idea what the actual story is all about. So give it a rest all you haters and trollers. The trashing is getting boring. And grow up already.

Kung fu is awesome i really wanted to learn it but the only one by me was tae kwon do so i took that up.......

i get what you mean about the punch but i have to disagree. either way its going to be a good film.

A lot of the guys on here are idiots, I usually dont post i just read through the stupid comments and laugh... Anyways it literally took me 3 seconds to search for a video of tired mma/boxing/ufc fighters trying to swing punches, and thats exactly what they look like (not the jumping one). Wide exaggerated swings that rarely connect. The jumoing one is a little awkward but again, 3 seconds i found another video of people doing that in REAL fights. So unless you guys are professionals, take the time to look up your intel BEFORE posting what you think is fact.
