Hallelujah! Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS Will Be Rated R

It's been revealed on a ticket stub that Ridley Scott's Prometheus has been rated R. Even though Spain rated the film "18" many American fans were still worried that they would receive a watered down PG-13 movie.

Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With 'Prometheus', he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

To many this isn't too much of a surprise as Spain a few weeks ago gave the film an "18" rating which is the equivalent of an R rating in the United States. But for me it's a bit of a surprise since I am so accustomed to films succumbing to the pressure, and becoming generic PG-13 movies.

So, get your asses to the theaters and see this movie. This is a huge opportunity for moviegoers everywhere to send a message to Hollywood that you don't have to make a snuff film about Jesus just to have a successful R rated film.

Take this with a grain of salt, still. I've had misprinted ratings on movie tickets before. I remember my stub for Terminator Salvation had an R rating...

I son't give a rat's ass one way or another if it's PG-13 or R. Ridley Scott has already said that he has made the movie he wants to make and they will not trim one frame of footage from that cut. And whatever it's rated, I don't care because I am confident that he has made the best version of the film possible.

Even if the [frick]er was rated G.

@P862010 And "Chronicle", too, for some people.

It's all been uphill since Tom Rothman got promoted to a position in which he can't be "hands on."

His replacement really seems to know what she's doing, too. It's why I'm (cautiously) optimistic about their Marvel films for the next few years.

Right...because there's no silly costumes in tdkr..look get over it! Tdkr (pretty sure it doesn't deserve capitals) was HULK smashed by Avengers..and its not even out yet!..I'm looking forward to seeing it, but I doubt it'll warrant multiple viewings..now Prometheus on the other hand no doubt will..

Like nobody saw TDK for a second or third time.Maybe it was the fact that ledger had died that made people see that movie again and again. TDKR Hulk smashed two and a half months before it comes out? Right.

Until we get an official statement saying there is an "R" rating, we should just hold
on.

Keep in mind that european countries tend to have more of a hang up regarding violence then in North America. Our hang up over here is over sexuality.

Terminator Salvation almost got an "R" in the US because of a short topless love
scene that was cut,not because there was anymore violence that had to be removed.
