If you read my article yesterday then it's no surprise that Bane's mysterious device is actually a fusion reactor. Today, we have some more new information on the device. It comes from a fictional letter that was included in the tie-in book, "The Dark Knight Manual : Tools, Weapons, Vehicles and Documents from the Batcave." The letter is from Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) and it's intended for Miranda Tate (Marion Cotillard).

WAYNE ENTERPRISES FUSION REACTOR

One such project is a clean fuel source - a new kind of safe energy poised to change the world: a fusion reactor that produces zero radiation and uses no fossil fuels. Rigorous testing is underway to eliminate all potential complications prior to launching the reactor on a global scale. Many aspects of this project are classified due to their sensitive nature.

The reactor is kept below Wayne Enterprises recycling plant located on the Gotham River. In the event of a security breach or, in a worst-case scenario, a meltdown, the reactor can be flooded and cooled down before it reaches a critical point. Tubing and shaft-ways lead directly to the device and can funnel river water into the reactor's core were its temperature to reach critical levels. Entry into the reactor is marked by a tamper-proof fingerprint identifier to prevent infiltration.

The Dark Knight Rises Batman 3

THE BAT - Lucius Fox encouraged the use of a prototype air vehicle that Wayne Enterprises once developed for the Department of Defense. It was created as a tool for urban pacification and could handle tight geometric maneuvers between buildings without recirculation. Fox dubbed it "the Bat." the craft has large propellers on either side of its undercarriage, which create a vortex of air and lift the vehicle off the ground. The dual rotor downdraft from the propellers can also function as a weapon. The cyclonic winds from the spinning blades have the power to force individuals to the ground and cause general disruption to an area. The Bat's autopilot function, which effectively kills the floodlights and shuts down the craft's main engines, allowing it to quietly hover through sensitive areas, is currently disabled.

EMP DEVICE - In order to effect a communications blackout, a device is used that delivers an electromagnetic pulse that can disrupt electronic equipment. The pulse is able to activate and deactivate at a preset time for the requested length needed. this gadget effectively cancels all closed-circuit camera feeds as well as cellular transmission, whith a predetermined distance. It must, however, be within close proximity of the area that it is affecting in order to remain effective.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

Nice find. That's really interesting.

Though Lucius has already leaked some very sensitive information, by explaining the security system used to prevent unauthorized access into the reactor.

The Bat's dual rotor downdraft from the propellers is also great for blowing off hats. :P

@grif Really? I know you're a notorious troll on here but Burton's Batman had Penguins with homing missiles, missiles!? Won't even go into 60's Batman, and the comics have had some of the craziest devices ever! Your panties are in a twist over "The Bat"?

What BS. Just by looking at "The Bat", the Department of Defense would know that Batman is really Bruce Wayne.

MisterFixit - 6/29/2012, 7:17 AM
@deanwilkins and they still have to explain who (and how) built that giant scanner in the previous movie

mawilli4 - 6/29/2012, 7:25 AM
@spidey23435 well, it's because they're both reactors, and they pretty much do the same thing through different means... two reactors are inevitably going to sound alike.
Sanderman
Sanderman - 6/29/2012, 7:33 AM
@deanwilkins just because they find out that its from Wayne Enterprise wouldn't mean they automatically know Batman is Bruce Wayne

I am not taking a shot at the movie or anything I just don't see why they need to include another reactor that provides clean energy to the masses. There are a million other plat devices that could be used. I understand it is a relevant subject to our generation but almost seems lazy. Also I am agreed with Deanwilkins comment about the Dept of Defence. How many failed Dept. of Defence contract prototypes can Batman use before someone at the D.O.D. says weird all those things that Wayne enterprises tried to sell us batman is now using. Like the suit is understandable, even the memory cloth in his cape but no one at the D.O.D. remembers the Tumbler or the Bat. Just nitpicking not gonna ruin the movie or anything but at this point couldn't Luscious just start making these things specifically for Batman.

MY THEORY IS BRUCE GOES BACK TO THAT LOST MAN LIKE HE WERE AT THE BEGINNING OF BATMAN BEGINS.
HE HAVE TO PUT BATMAN HARVEY AND RACHEL BEHIND HIM .REMEMBER HE AND RACHEL WAS REALLY CLOSE THEY GROWED UP TOGETHER THAT'S HARD TO TAKE. BUT HE WILL MOVE ON AFTER 8 YEARS. HELPING GOTHAM HIS FATHERS WAY AND EVEN FINDING A NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH MIRANDA TATE.THAT WILL BE THE PROBLEM THOUGH.HE TRIES TO MOVE ON BUT MOVES ON TO THE NEXT TRAP AND WHO'S THAT BANE MIRANDA TATE AND THERE ARMY. BRUCE ALWAYS LIVED IN A LOSE LOSE SITUATION.

Mugwamp, lol then you don't know what an internet troll is... Grif just doesn't like the [frick]in movie, he hasn't since the beginning of production. Get over it, a negative opinion does not translate to troll. Well, not unless you're one of those sheeple Americans that only deals in extremes, then you're allowed to draw whatever inflammatory, extreme, and asinine conclusion you can think of, so long as it isn't the true one.

i agree with gothamwriter THATS WHAT THE WHOLE TRILOGY IS ABOUT SOMEONE THAT NEVER COULD BE LIKE ANYONE ELSE. ALWAYS IN BAD LUCK. IN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES I DONT CARE IF HE DIES OR NOT BECUASE WE ALL KNOW WHAT BRUCE LIVES HIS LIFE FOR. gothamwrite you really made me think about it. and miranda tate could just be that bad luck he falls into again. i truly beleives she's the real bad guy in the movie.. villians are people that breaks you down mentally. you cant go out and fight if you dont have ur mind right. bale stated the movie is about ''can bruce having that pain he once had that will give him the strength to become something greater than him.

@TheMyth - I'm surprised you took your hands out of grif's pants long enough to type that. Thank you for explaining what a troll is, and here I thought it was one of those beastly, wart covered, ass eaters, that live under bridges and explain other people's positions for them? You know, a lot like what you see in the mirror.
