yeah these people who think they are seeing imax by going to one of the digital conversion cinemas really dont know what they are missing by not seeing it at a proper huge 1.44:1 ratio imax cinema.

in other news aparently part of the amazing spiderman is expanded to 1.9:1 from 2.39:1 for its imax showings, still not proper imax ratio or anywhere near imax quality mind.

i just wish it was true and confirmed that they were using imax cameras on man of steel, i guess ill just have to go see star trek 2 and next hunger games for my imax fix.

at this point its almost a given considering the 5-10 nominee rule. interesting to see if it would have been a nominee back when it was out of 5 like TDK wasnt. but its got that epic "last of the series" thing on its side both in terms of awards and box office

All WB needs to do is spend the money and start the campaign and hope they aren't outdone by other studios and films. People really need to do their homework as to how the Oscars work.

what have you seen in imax?

best imax ive seen was TDK, though a few sequences in mission impossible were incredible but owe alot obviously to TDK

best/only 3d imax ive seen is HUBBLE 3D which was incredible

and best 3d non imax ive seen has got to be coraline randomly, great balance of depth and in your faceness. with a few ingenious uses of the extra dimension.

jackass 3d was actually really well done as well i think. its much purer cinema than avatar (although i liked elements of that). ive always subscribed to the idea of jackass falling into tom gunning's theory of the "cinema of attractions" in reference to back when cinema was pretty much solely short 'gimmicky' experiemental clips like youtube videos made to shock/entertain/excite ect.

as odd an idea/train of thought as that is.

both imax and 3d are current iterations of tech that has been around for decades, neither of which are anywhere near perfect but im looking forward to the future of both as separate contrasting entities as well as their use as one.

This movies kind of a big deal...

So..... im pretty sure this film will be nominated for multiple oscars. There was almost a revolution when TDK didnt get nominated for brst picture which lead to the academy creating more spots for best picture. That was a lil much. They should lower it again. They have yo realize Nolan is the BEST director and most influential man in Hollywood. If im an actor im dying to work with him. Acadamey, game recognize game. Nolan has maf game. Recognize a brilliant filmmaker when ya see one. Show ya right.

Oscars I not sure about that, but hopefully they will at least give this a award as being the most awesome trilogy ever

@thewonderer: I don't know about your opinions on these movies but I think the Lord of the Rings trilogy is pretty terrific, as well as the original Star Wars films and the first three Indiana Jones movies. Hell, I even like the Back to the Future trilogy a lot, even though they all follow the exact same narrative formula as the first one.

why dont they make the whole film in imax, non?

@lapress Not only does it have to do with the loud cameras but mainly with emotion. You don't want this epic full screen IMAX shot for Bruce Wayne and Alfred having a conversation. You want to use the large IMAX shots for action and whatnot. Thats why in TDK it switched from the large screen to the widescreen.
