"there is no doubt that they pull in a lot of money".

True, but then again so does Simon Cowell and look what a useless addition to entertainment everything he produces is.

i must admit i like Milla Jovovich but shes really stupid to render her career to bad Resident Evil movies and keep on working with her crappy director husband Paul W. S. Anderson.

She should never have got super powers,I don't think I was ever doing back flips and using a chain to kill zombies in the game....

I wouldn't say shes rendering her career, she's making a lot of money off these movies, everyone bitches about them yet they still make the money.

I watch every W. S movies some of them good and some completely shit but he always had a style , I mean look at the Death Race - cool cars and chases, but now... This car chase and fights are the worse of all what he's done. I actually like some style and Wesker in 4th film but it's lost. So, after watching all movies in cinema this one will be downloaded illegally.

I've said it before, she LOVES making these movies. And I'm sure the fact they make a lot of money doesn't bother her either. lol As much excitement I have for this movie, I really wish they'd stop treating it as a 3D only film. There's no need for so much Slow Motion in one scene IMO.

Well, now that I actually watched the clips I have to say......are you serious? If I hadn't given up on these movies years ago that rip off scene from Resident Evil 4 with Ada would have pissed me off. Now they crack me up and make me roll my eyes. Also, Ada is clearly dubbed. Mr. W.S. Anderson, please quit. Right now.

Look at all video game movies. They have good trailers( even Max Payne that I hate 'cause the game is so awesome and adaptation is F.A.Q. - ng crap) but RE 5 doesn't have even that and it already tells that this movie not good. By the way the RE 4 had good advertisement and trailers and it had good moments and good 3D( second after Avatar 'cause it was shooted with the same cameras) . This one doesn't have anything of that(even 3D cameras are not the same) so, probably this one finally will fail. It's already deserves that, and if it succeed something is going wrong because even Expendables 2 failed( and it was real action movie and also great fun and nerdgasm) .

RE:Retribution will bring in money, but Paul W. Anderson will never stay true to the video game. All he has done is murder the RE franchise! Plus, horrible job with casting with Barry, Chris, and Claire. I'm also tired of the same storyline in every freaking RE movie since Extinction...Alice, and her revenge against the Umbrella Corporation! I hope this is the fifth, and final installment. It's in a desperate need of a reboot!

alice in super tight clothing = hot , Nemesis is back = awesome, Giant licker = lame as hell, mediocre fight scenes = expected, over the top action = acceptable, another guilty pleasure from this franchise. I'll watch it but not in theaters unless someone drags me.

Stupid movies altogether. Can't we get one damn good movie based from a video game. Silent Hill is the real survival horror adaptation that worked. PWA sit and spin on it.

Love the games and the movies why can't you like both
SFCamerica
SFCamerica - 8/25/2012, 6:12 PM
Because the movies suck @Bartman. Also, RE 4 and 2 are the only great RE games, others are good, not great.

T-minus 15 days until the little super heroine joins our ranks, for those keeping track. And yes, she will be coming home from the hospital in the Cap outfit with knit hat.

Where did this @SimyJo come from and why does he rip off @Grif's avatar?
xRelentlessx
xRelentlessx - 8/25/2012, 7:17 PM
@SFCamerica I haven't played RE2 yet but I will. RE4, on the other hand, isn't the greatest for me. I wonder how people overlook RE REmake for the Gamecube/Wii. Now THAT was a masterpiece! <3 :D

@DAFIRG;
Why?, when I'm SUCH a good listener.
;)

@SFCamerica;
To answer your first question; Edgeware in England.

Re; Your 2nd question and quite hurtful insinuation - We do not share the same avatar, nor do I 'rip-off' his avatar. We are both bears, so I understand if this gives you claws for confusion.
I am a happy Bear who's into comic book movies, and Grif is a grumpy Bear (that says 'shit' a lot).
I hope that clears up any confusion. Any more questions feel free to ask, there may be a brief paws before I get back to you if you live in the states due to the timezone difference.

Is Kevin Durand's voice dubbed? That doesn't sound like his voice or anything like Barry Burton's voice for that matter.

@DEADP0000L Say what!? I agree that Ada Wong in the video games is hot, but Li BingBing is beautiful. She also even looks a lot like Ada from the video games:

There is an uncanny resemblance there.

@Bartman87 I grow up playing the RE video games. These movies are a far cry from the video games. They are nowhere near as great; they don't do source material justice at all IMO. Alice isn't even from the video games!

I'm waiting for the the movies to be rebooted, so we can get RE movies that are actually based on the games.

@SFCamerica SimyJo has been a member here for a long time. Same avatar too. And as far as worst RE games go, I've played RE: ORC. That was a terrible game.

Your daughter is coming home from the hospital? I'm sorry to hear she was in the hospital, but it's great that she's coming home soon. :)
mgeoff88
mgeoff88 - 8/25/2012, 7:34 PM
@xRelentlessx Whoa, whoa, whoa... you call yourself a RE fan and you haven't even played RE2 yet? ;P

I wish I didn't sell my PS2, I would go back and play RE1-RE3.
SFCamerica

To all: I'm all hopped up on Percocet, shoulder surgery 2 days ago, probably why I don't recognize you SimyJo...

Didn't mean to offend with the Grif comparison SJ, that was a low blow, deduct a point!

@mgeoff - daughter is in my wife's belly, incubating... So no worries there ;)

RE 2 set the standard for the series, with that said, you can't have a serious video game debate when you mention games from GameCube or the Wii, all credibility goes right out the door. Nintendo lost all cred when they didn't have a blood code for Mortal Kombat 2 for the SNES.
AUSSYACE
AUSSYACE - 8/25/2012, 8:23 PM
I'm not sure why everyone is complaining...

I have never ever played the game so I don't really care for comparisons...

I have enjoyed all of these flicks as they are great action flicks and better than a lot of the B or C grade stuff on offer at your local DVD store and I have seen some tragic shit that does not even compare to these movies...

Looking forward to this one as a rental none the less...

jessepostal
jessepostal - 8/25/2012, 9:32 PM
@mgeoff, you can play them on ps3

@SFCamerica, the first resident evil was great, still the best in my opinion, biggest and best scare tactics and
the wii/gamecube resi 0 and remake are fantastic!! if youve never played them go get them today, especially remake, Its a whole new game yet a remake of the original.

JillValenfield - 8/25/2012, 10:09 PM
Li bingbing is awesome here!! She really reminds me of Ada, and that scene...its from RE 4 when she actually meets Leon (and not...Alice). Well, that is something good here mr. Anderson :/

The last one was too stupid, crappy slow motion and the small, thin Alice did kik all the zombie asses?!? That doesn't even look realistic and it is just borrrrrinngg. Come on, Milla. You could have done it better :;(

Well, the kik ASS lickers are back - hell yeah!!!!

carlosvstheworld

more pointless slow motion? part of me still loves the hell outta these movies.

There's no pleasing some people.

Okay, I don't want to diss anyone here, just offering my opinion, which, the last time I checked, is okay to have different ones.

I see them as two different entities. The games are great, yes. You think so, too, right? But let's see it from another point of view. In these games, we have:

a. Statues to be pushed around, or gems to be placed in statues or crests on the wall to open secret doors and stuff. This happens, if I may remind you, in a modern day police station.

b. A chest that magically transports your belongings to another place. Kind of like a subspace portal.

c. A medicinal herb and first aid spray that instantly heal your wounds and replenish the blood you lost.

d. A child that survives all this craziness, alone and unarmed.

e. A merchant, who's presumably infected by the parasite, yet still retains his sense of business and not out to kill you, like other people who's infected by the same parasite. He has lots of money to buy your treasures and has an arsenal that can put Bin Laden to shame. This happens, if I may remind you, in an isolated island where the whole population is infected by the parasite. He knows exactly where you're heading and gets there ahead of you to set up shop. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

f. An invisible attache case big enough to carry a handgun, a shotgun, a sniper rifle, a rocket launcher, plenty of grenades, medicinal herbs, treasures the size of beer mugs, crowns and necklaces AND your collection of bottlecaps. Look at Ada's dress. If she keeps her case where I think it is, then I'd salute her but I wouldn't be interested in spending the night with her, sexy and gorgeous that she is.

Still think the games are great?

Yes, I do! Those games are great to PLAY, so I overlook these illogical crap.

Now we go to the movies. Only the first in the series has a decent story in it and the performance of the big name stars, although not up to their usual standard, is not that bad. But the action sequences are good and entertaining. Some are getting repetitive after a while, but still enjoyable. Milla looks beautiful as ever. The zombies and the monsters look good.

What if they choose not to go with the original storylines of the games? It's called BUSINESS decision. They're here to make money. If they think it is more profitable to go with an altogether new storyline, then it's their choice. I'm sure they pay a lot for the rights and the production. Is it wrong to want some money back for it?

If you don't like the way they're going with the story and the treatment of the characters, you also have all the freedom of choice in the world NOT to watch it. But to ask them to stop making it the way they want, and this is my personal opinion, is not the way to do it. It's like asking Sony Ericsson to stop making Xperia like it is because you don't like it, because "the old Ericsson don't make phones that way." That's bullcrap, IMO, because Sony bought Ericsson and they have the rights to do so.

As for me, I enjoy the movies like I enjoy the games. Enjoy the parts that are enjoyable and forget everything else.
