Jan de Bont, M. Night Shymalan, Renny Harlin, Joe Dante. Four good directors whose careers got derailed by questionable film choices. I would have wished for any of these guys to direct a MARVEL film earlier in their careers.

worst thing to happen with jaden is him growing up it seems. Very good in pursuit of happyness but he doesnt seem to have much about him talentwise.

I remember when THE SIXTH SENSE came out, when the movie ended, everyone asked, "Wow, who is this M. Night Shyamalan guy?" Nowadays, seeing his name in trailers elicits laughter.

The guy's a hack and was never as talented as people made him out to be. I rarely say this but I hope the movie bombs.

I prefer the Will Smith of old, pre-Jaden. Same with Shyamalan, pre-Lady in the Water.

The kid is riding on his dads fame... I grew up on Fresh Price, and will always love his work.

I've never really been a fan of shameless nepotism. I'm even less of a fan of the arrogance these kids, his wife exhibit as..."confidence". Kind of nauseating.

M Night...Really like Sixth Sense. Love Unbreakable and Signs. Liked Lady In The Water...Everything else - meh. Pairing up with Smith Inc is just another poor move.

i think shyamalan needs to stop writing his own films. purely from a directorial standpoint, he's still pretty good. he needs someone else to do the writing though. the laughable plot points, the lame twists, the clunky dialogue, its mostly his writing that has sunk his films.

although i still cant forgive him for making a terrible film out of a pretty good cartoon. he didn't even get the tone right. avatar-the last airbender's supposed to be a fun adventure, not broody emo-crap. aang's (not aung's) whole character arc was to start taking his responsibility more seriously. people who haven't seen the cartoon, probably had no idea that this kid was supposed to be energetic and adorable.

I don't trust M. Night. Not after he nearly ruined the Avatar: the Last Airbender franchise. But because I'm a Will Smith fan, I'll give this film a try. Or at least wait for a trailer.

Is he releasing a hot new single to coincide with the film's release date? That would just ssssizzle! Maybe an After Earth choreographed dance scene for the video consisting of mutated earthlings as background dancers akin to Michael Jackson's Thriller! That be hot! :-|

Signs and The Village were awesome films, it's the trainwrecks that came after that has ruined his shit. I'll most likely not see this in theaters.. maybe a rental?
Stumblin
Stumblin - 10/19/2012, 9:01 AM
Signs - doesn't make sense, aliens are hurt by water and don't realize it when they try to take over a planet with over 75% water.

The Village - equally as dumb as Signs.

Shamalacka has made two decent movies in my opinion; Unbreakable and 6th Sense (but I didn't really like that movie either, it's just passable)

This guy is a hack of a director.

Night needs to disappear... for good. Simply shocking how people continue to bankroll his films justified by the success of his first few films despite a LONG stretch of box office bombs after that.

sixth sense & unbreakable are the only good films by m.night shyamalan.

1) Unbreakable
2) Signs

I assume Sixth Sense was ok but I never was able to watch it because my friend ruined it for me by telling me the big twist/ending, so everytime I try to watch it it is boring.
