Who Is Rick Talking To? Does A New Promo For THE WALKING DEAD Hold Any Clues?

A new promo for episode six of The Walking Dead has arrived and it features a few new snippets of footage of Rick and that mysterious phone call that he received at the end of last week's episode.

After viewing this new promo for "Hounded" do you believe that the television show will divert from, or follow the original "Phone Call" storyline in The Walking Dead comic books? I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but if you're dying to know who Rick talks to in the comics the answer can be found here. (Skip to "Here We Remain")

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9/8c on AMC and stars: Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Scott Wilson, Emily Kinney, Sarah Wayne Callies, Steven Yeun, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, IronE Singleton, Danai Gurira, Melissa Suzanne McBride, Michael Rooker, and David Morrissey.

I believe that Rick is just talking to himself on the phone; in his head he thinks he's talking to someone who, in episodes to come, will 'befriend' him and rationalise Rick's own thoughts and judgments to him (as we all know, Rick is quickly becoming more and more unstable, so the man on the phone (Rick's head)could pose a real threat to the safety of the group- like in the scene with Glenn).

If I recall a few episodes ago, I think the group established that the power had been shut off in the prison so logic screams that phones would be out...

Really hope it is done as effectively as it was it the comics. I think they've said we will find out in one episode, but I was hoping it would be stretched out a little more. The longer it goes on, a few episodes or so, the bigger the "oh shit" for non-comic readers when it is revealed.

Also in the comics you could read the other person without knowing who was talking. For obvious reasons they cannot do that, so either there will be no voice on the other end that we can hear, or they have someone else do the voice.

Rick is losing his mind and the phone call will have Lori on the other side to show us viewers that he is having a mental breakdown.

he says,"how do you know my name?"

So it cant be anyone he knows already so it is either a real voice or he is having a breakdown....I want it to be a breakdown because this actor is at this point acting his little boots off.........
i did not rate him when he worked in britain, but he has really established himself with this role.

lori not really a shit idea, in the comics it is great, and helps the character grow after her death. In the show will have an even bigger effect because of how long Shane lasted and changed things.

@SuperSpiderman - I wish the samething but unfortunately it's not going to be Morgan and his son Duane. They will eventually return, if the tv series goes the same direction as the comics, but (spoiler alert)

Duane will be found to be a zombie chained up by his father, because like his wife, he isn't able to kill his family who've turned into a zombie...

Technically it's nobody, but he's going crazy and to cope with her death he has 'imaginary converations' with her even though he knows it's not her.

''Is this Real?''
''Rick, Of course not''

SuperPickle - 11/15/2012, 9:32 PM
Considering this is all quite well covered in the comics and I seriously doubt they'd stray THAT far from it, there's no reason to debate it.

Yes, they've diverged by shifting around events, mostly chronologically, to keep us who know the comics from knowing every twist and turn, but this is a no-brainer.
