UPDATE: Possible Footage Of A Jaeger In Action From Guillermo Del Toro's PACIFIC RIM

A new video has surfaced from Mirada, which is Guillermo del Toro's very own visual effects company. They specialize in creating pre-visualization, animatics, story boarding, and visual effects work. The footage of the Jaeger is most likely just pre-production work.

Guillermo del Toro has contacted Collider.com and had them relay the message that the footage in the video is not related to his movie, Pacific Rim.

I would most likely assume the footage below is pre-visualization work for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim. So even though it's probably not real footage, it does give us an early clue to what these giant robots will look like as they battle inter-dimensional creatures.

Skip to the 1:15 mark to see the footage!

Big thank you to Oshi275 for the heads up.

PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim is scheduled for release on July 12, 2013. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff.

Guillermo del Torro is a brilliant visionary director, excellent storyteller, and my first choice for the BATMAN reboot:

Cool! Looks a lot like Iron Giant. Glad that Del Toro chose the retro steampunk aspect to the machines, and not the twisted metal mess from Transformers.

It's pretty sweet when people get bent out of shape about early footage and pass judgement on the movie before anyone has seen it. Really... :o|

per GdT on his official site..."Please if you can post a disclaimer about that footage in any website or message board where you see it. This thing is entirely unrelated to the film."

I don't think it's even pre-vis work on Pacific Rim. Why? Because the style doesn't fit with the bot on the poster.
