PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim is scheduled for release on July 12, 2013. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi, Max Martini, Rob Kazinsky, Clifton Collins Jr. and Diego Klattenhoff.

Guillermo del Toro has never let me down, but I just can't seem to get excited about this film. Nothing that has been announced or shown has that "del Toro feel" to it.

I'll hold off my judgement, and I look forward to being proved wrong, but this movie is flying under my radar for the time being.

I am hoping this will give me a more Gundamn Wing feel as that is what it reminds me of the most in terms of robotics.

Isn't the german jaeger the original one? Where is it?

I heard there is gonna be 7 Jaegers.
The last two would come from Peru. Named Tacit Ronin and Diablo Intercept.

And 9 different monsters. Each with their own personality and abilities. They have designed 40 monsters but will use these 9 in the movie or so i have heard.

There will be sea monster, flying monster and monster that will vomit corrosive magna-like liquid. And there is probably gonna be Crab-like monster with house-size claws too.

Sounds pretty mindblowing ;)

Don't buy into that bullshit about reading scripts. People do stupid shit for attention. Just zoom in on the heads, and you can tell that Gypsy Danger is the one from the official Teaser Poster that was released some time back, and thus you can infer that THAT is the one our leads will pilot. Also, Idris Elba might be piloting Cherno Alpha, since it carries that Eagle logo that's on his shoulder.

@soberchimera61 1.Australia

@GetsugaTensho22-Actually Robert Maillet(Aleksis) & Heather Doerksen pilot Cherno Alpha

Idris and Charlie pilot Gipsy Danger....then its Charlie and Rinko.
Raythbane
Raythbane - 12/1/2012, 8:48 PM
@GetsugaTensho22 Idris is wearing the same suit as Charlie and Rinko, and the Eagle is the logo for the Pan Pacific Defense Corps: http://www.panpacificdefense.com/

Also here is Cherno Alphas logo: http://deltorofilms.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/sdcc_buttons.jpg

And heres the Russian pilots suits: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2UIoyuw9jFY/T_7_NqG6JVI/AAAAAAAABz4/_hqMs0UO4cE/s1600/original+%284%29.jpg

Note the skull symbol on the left sholder, same as bottom right of Cherno Alpha blueprint.

Just saying....

RaythBane has it correct. The first one (Striker Eureka) is Australian.

The Jaeger that Idris Elba pilots is Coyote Tango, which is the only single-pilot Jaeger. Hunnam and Kikuchi pilot the 5th one, Gipsy Danger

the jaegers remind of the robots in armored core...im quite excited for this movie! anyone know when we'll get a proper trailer?...this one wasn't that good tbh..

wearethewalkingdead9 - 12/2/2012, 5:35 AM
@RaythBane, Idris Elba doesn't pilot Gypsy Danger. im pretty sure like graymatter said he pilots Coyote Tango.

@diamondragon, i think the trailer is attached to the hobbit but keep in mind that this was just a crappy viral video and not the movie at all.

@wearethewalkingdead9 look at the poster.....clearly Charlie and Idris are on the Jaegers(Gipsy Danger) shoulder.

Al of the country's pilots suits are different just as the Jaegers are,

Idris, Charlie and Rinkos are the same.
Raythbane
Raythbane - 12/2/2012, 8:42 PM
@GrayMatter Coyote Tango is Japans Jaeger....I would say Rinko is its pilot, maybe until its destroyed and the she joins up with Charlie...something like that
GrayMatter
GrayMatter - 12/3/2012, 1:17 AM
@RaythBane - I read somewhere that Elba would be the pilot of Coyote Tango, but I can't remember where that was and I couldn't find it again after a quick Google search. So I'll admit that I could be wrong on that one.

That being said, the official synopsis of the movie says that Rinko is an "untested trainee," so I doubt that Coyote Tango is her Jaeger. I just assumed that while certain nations were ponying up the Jaegers themselves, they were piloted by the best pilots around, regardless of nationality. Didn't one of the viral "memos" just released say something about British pilots beting sent over to help out?
