THE DARK KNIGHT Concept Art: What Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face Could've Looked Like

While doing my usual digging I came across the portfolio for conceptual artist/matte painter, Olivier Pron. There I noticed some artwork for Hellboy 2, Wrath Of The Titans, but most intriguing was variations of Harvey Dent's scarred face for The Dark Knight.

I like it. Although the movie version grew on me, I did not like it at first. But this concept looks awesome

Pretty cool, and it certainly resembles its comic book counterpart better, but I'm extremely satisfied with what they went with in the final product already. And considering Two-Face's altered origin in it, I'd still prefer the final version over this one.

No way the original was a way better choice, looks more natural and brutal.

It's pretty cool but I don't see how you guys think it resembles the comic book version much more, the one in the movie is pretty accurate. Sure there IS a little blown up lip in the concept but that's it, and it's not even big. The one used in the movie is two toned, and in the right light, it shines blue and looks much more like a reference to both the 1990's cartoon version rather than Tim Sale's The Long Halloween version.

That said the concept here is actually 100 times more realistic than the one used in the film. It also looks pretty good if it was an acid burn (which it could've been at the time of the concept).

Awful, so glad they went with the version in the movie. He looks just like the Tim Sale Two-Face from The Long Halloween, which is the best Two-Face story ever told.

I like th eversion they used in the film, as it was how we all know Two-Face from the comics and the animated series. But for a realistic Batman, they've never really done a realistic Two-Face. It's quite a simple realistic concept, realy. Just a guy who's got burns on one side of his face. It doesn't mean the whole face has to be burned and it doesn't mean we have to see his whole eyeball or even so much of his gums.
Maybe, in Earth One Batman, we'll see a version of Two-Face that is a lot more realistic.
At least the face wasn't as perfectly divided as it was in Batman Forever, though, right?

Looks decent but I'm glad with what we got.

I loved Two-Face & Aaron Eckhart's performance in TDK. In fact the ONLY thing I didn't like about TDK was that Two-Face was killed off. He doesn't get enough credit for that role.

Nice design. I like the original, but this one seems a little bit more believable that someone could be walking around like that.

its basically the same except its not black and burnt.

Looks pretty good. I think the version they went with works better for the movie because he still looks crispy. The Freddy Kruger look would have been more appropriate if the scars had healed some.

So, it's Luthor with a deformed face?

2 face was awesome, his look greatly exceeded my expectations in the movie.

also is it just me,or does the two face concept kinda look like Christian Bale?

The version they went with in the movie was best IMO, definitely agree with those who feel Two-Face shouldn't have been killed off.

They just don't do it for me. The final design they went with was much better than these.

Should've had at least one IMAX shot of Two-Face in TDK.

the concept art sucks, not enough distinction between the two halves and the scarring is on the wrong side, what they went with was awesome

Nomis1800@ What would be the point in wasting IMAX on a mostly cg shot?

I always thought they should have made it a little more subtle. I mean the way he looked in the movie he would never live... His eye would also fall out and his face would become infected and the fever would kill him. Not being a nitpicker, it just bugs me sometimes how Nolan made it all so real and then ruined the realism with little details like that.

JayJayCAW - 1/20/2013, 4:16 PM
meh, I thought he looked fine in The Dark Knight, a few issues here and there about how the heck is he still able to talk normally....but aside from that it looked good :)

TheBatman3000 - 1/20/2013, 5:47 PM
one of the of many reasons i like nolan....we all thought it would be more subtle....but nope! he went full on! he read Long Halloween..so thats whats up! and yeah...Aaron should get more credit...in a lot of ways the story was about him and batman...joker is just the anarchy with in the story

Two-Face in TDK is the best interpretation of the character in film, his looks is totally creepy and more scary than in the comics and cartoon
Aaron Eckhart should be given credit he deserves for his performance but unfortunately people only remembered heath ledger's joker

@TheDukeOfNY
Nolan did his research very well
